Jackie, that stinks but I'm glad you will still get a few days of vacation. I don't understand the cancellations. My son and nephew both flew in on Sat and my son flew back on Monday. Oh, just remembered you had more snow then Newark.

Now I am really upset. I see that tomorrow I can get the same flight as I originally had - Islip to Orlando, then Orlando to Aruba, at the same times I had.
However, it will not let them book it as an ISP-AUA flight. These are the exact same legs as I had and there is room on both the flights.
The computer will only book an ISP-MCO flight and an MCO-AUA flight, and they would have to charge us an extra $800 for the 2 one-way legs.

I'm not paying $800 for one extra day. I kept asking them why can't they give me it when I already had it the first time. They had no answer except that the computer won't let them do it.
The agent spoke to her supervisor, and he wasn't able to make it happen either.

      ARGH.....
I could never understand why Southwest has such high ratings from airline customers. I have flown Southwest a couple of times and I am not a fan and have not flown on southwest for over 5 years now. The above story has confirmed for me that not only am I not a fan but the real truth is I hate Southwest and will never fly them again.

I think she is going to need a double.

We made it! It is warm and gorgeous and worth the wait, I DID have a double as we arrived in time for happy hour two-fers. We watched the sun set on the beach and are now sitting on the patio eating nachos and drinking wine. Life is good.

Larry, I am reserving judgement on Southwest for my return trip. This is my first bad experience with them and we've flown with them for many years.

I was following this thread and cannot believe what you went through. I was fuming for you, but did not want to chime in case honestly. I was pissed this happened to you and they did not do better for you. IMO it is no ones fault but the airlines should do a better job in new booking. The problem is that they are rebooking on flights that were 85% pre booked and now jam packed. The fix is to add new temporary plan routes. If the planes never took off, then they are, they are already. They still have to get planes in to keep on schedule and you may still not get out a day later, but you would be out in 48 hours later.
I was only snowed once in my life, not counting the flight that got diverted in mid air. I got stuck on new years in NOLA due to the bad weather in NY. The worst part about it was having to see baby year live come down rather than the ball on TV and not being with our family. I wish we could do that again. The other time we were going from NY to SD. The plane was forced down in Denver due to turbulence. The airline rebooked us and put us up for the night ,but we did not have our luggage. I had a T-shirt and shorts in Denver in the middle of a snow storm. Our mistake was rebooking on the next flight out. I wish we would have stayed in Denver a few days just to see the Rockies .
