B52s (with the Boston Pops), Bob Dylan/Mavis Staples, Train, Jackson Browne, Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration, Brian Wilson, and two great film nights.

We went to the Jerry Garcia symphonic celebration a couple of years ago -- I don't think I've ever seen a better show at TWood. [incorrect date deleted]
John Williams film night is a special treat, and he's not getting any younger...
Bob Dylan and Mavis Staples go way back together, and she is an incredible force (look for the new documentary of her life, called "Mavis," it's great).
The B-52s with the Pops should be great too.

Bob and Mavis are playing Forest Hills Tennis stadium.

I am trying to wrap my head around the B52s with the Boston pops but I am so there!

Bob and Mavis are July 2nd, my bad. Jerry Garcia symphonic celebration is July 1st. That is one awesome music weekend if you can do 1st,2nd, & then 3 or 4 w/JT.

I really wish we could go, but we already have other plans (not shabby, either, but not this musical!).

Bob Dylan is at Foxwoods Casino on July 1- Tanglewood is not very far from where he lives.

My son is going to the Governor's ball this year for a change. He has gone to Firefly 3 years in a row. Last year he was up front to see sir Paul and wings. I know one of our lady members would have wanted to be there for that one

Where is his place upstate? I thought he lived in Malibu. Did he keep a place around Woodstock? I know Kate Pierson (B52s) has a place near there in Mt Tremper so her TWood appearance makes sense, too.

Cool. I don't know how he sounds these days, but Mavis Staples is awesome. Here's another plug for her new biographical documentary - if focuses a lot on the early years and The Staples Singers - the first gospel group to cross over into "freedom songs," inspired by Dr. King.

I saw Dylan about 18 months ago in Seattle and was surprised at how well he sounded and I enjoyed the performance. I think it depends on when the previous show was. He still tours very heavily.

Go for Mavis and see a bit of rock and roll history while you still can.

Exactly. I got to see her at City Winery last year, what a treat.
