About 175 miles. LLBean is about 90-100 miles away. There is a small LL Bean outlet in Ellsworth.

Frank drives at about 160 MPH - there are cliff trails also at Otter Rocks in Acadia NP.

The big LL Bean store is in Freeport and there are 54 other outlets throughout the country (none closer to Samoset than Ellsworth).

We're going out to western Massachusetts in Oct. We are going to fly in to Charlotte to visit relatives. Drive up to Norfolk to see other relatives and then proceed to Oak and Spruce for a weeks stay. Then we will drive through western New York back down to Charlotte to fly back.

It will be the first time I've had to explore the East Coast. Looking forward to it.

If you stop in Freeport (the home of the big and original LLBean, and if you love lobsters and/or fried clams, do not miss the Harraseeket lobster dock for the freshest...not the Harraseeket Inn, which is on the same street as LLBean, but the dock on Main Street in Freeport. We stopped in on our way up into Maine and on our way back last month...oh so yummy

Just got back from Maine late yesterday. It was a trip with many complications and I never got down to Bar Harbor other than a non-stop quick drive on the park loop road. The weather was good- only needed a jacket one night. I own a unit for week 40 there and it can have a few colder days and nights. It has been a warm and dry summer up there.

Thank you Lusi. I don' t think I'll be going to Bangor and I couldn't do zip lines anyway as my health won't allow it. So looking forward to my trip.
