    Lighthouses in Southern Narragansett Bay

If you like lighthouses, Jamestown is a great place to visit. At least
eight lighthouses can be seen from various parts of Conanicut Island.

We never stayed in Jamestown, but have frequently visited the FF's in Newport, both Long Wharf and Newport Onshore. We loved them both. We love the whole area. We always walk the Cliff Walk and always fly kites at the kite park. I can't think of the name of the kite park, but they have competitions there. The church where JFK got married is there and that is where we go for Sunday Mass. We haven't even hit the mansions yet, but I heard they have a great annual pass deal.

      Have a great trip!

          Marti,

September 2006 covers weeks 35 through 39, depending on day of checkin. FF only has 2 BR at Newport Overlook.

For week 35, it requires 175,000 FF points
for weeks 36-39, it requires 154,000 FF points

The information on this resort shows that it has "very limited # of accommodations". This means that FF has less than 10 units per week. It can mean as little as 1 or 2 per week.

          Hope this helps.

              Marti,

I roam TUG, the FF Yahoo Group and here on a regular basis. Kind of going to the waterhole on the Veld.

I often run across your posts and often wonder what you are trying to accomplish with some of them. On the prior one here or the topic in general, what is it.?

Mark, Mark B. someplaces and Basham here

I am always searching for information and ideas on places
that I would like to visit (I am planning a trip to Newport)

It helps me to post links on Timeshare Forums and Tug
so that I can find them later (hopefully they will help others)

I read that you live near Boston and own Fairfield Points
What do you think of the FF Resorts in Jamestown/Newport

I like them but I also like Newport, it has some significance to me.

Because of the restricted parking in Newport I have not stayed in either of the Jamestown resorts. Too much of a hassle, and expensive to park, the Newport resorts parking privilege is an important factor.

I am however going down shortly for a long weekend and staying at the Bay Voyage Inn. The highlight of that will be the brunch at the Inn, voted best in RI a number of years. For this one I don't anticipate being in Newport that much.

Jamestown and Conanicut Island - A Brief Introduction

                    Jamestown, Rhode Island
is located twenty-five miles south of Providence
and a mile west of Newport, on Conanicut Island, in Narragansett Bay.

It is both a summer destination and a year-round community with
                    a population is about 6,000.

Conanicut Island is nine miles long by one mile wide.
Its highest elevation is 135 feet.

Sheep grazing and farming began in the sixteen-thirties.
For well over two hundred years the island remained mostly agricultural.

Even today, there is a quiet rural character to much of the island
and Jamestown's commercial center has the feel of a traditional village.
A few farms remain, older neighborhoods are intact and historic properties,
including lighthouses, windmills and the remains of old military fortifications,
                    offer connection to the past.

With its abundance of open space, lightly traveled roadways and pleasant views,
the island is an excellent locale for walking and riding bicycles.

                        Fairfield Overlook

Just wanted to let everyone know that we are enjoying our stay at
The Fairfield Overlook in Jamestown RI. We love the location of our
unit and enjoy looking out at the water and at the Pell Bridge.

The Bridge is the real attraction. In the morning the sun comes up
from the east and is behind the bridge towers. In the evening the
full moon sits behind the tower and reflexs on the water. The views
are just beautiful. We could not have asked for a better location!

We really hate to have to have to check out & leave here in the morning
