The Newport (Pell) Bridge - RI - Commemorative Quarters

            The Newport (Pell) Bridge,
            featured on the Rhode Island
commemorative quarters, is more than two miles long
with towers that rise 400 feet above the water.

It's opening made Route 138 into a through road joining
the western and eastern portions of Rhode Island.

In 1992, the western highway approach to Jamestown was
upgraded to a four-lane bridge; replacing the two-lane bridge
that served the island for more than fifty years.

We have a beautiful view of the - Jamestown - Newport - Pell
Bridge from our (t/s) townhouse unit here at Newport Overlook

We usually think of Newport during the nice weather months because of the beaches & ocean events but we were there last December, stayed at the Fairfield On Shore right in town on the water. We had a great time, there was so much going on, like various concerts almost every night around town for the holiday season and although all the mansions are not open that time of year those that are are all decorated for the holidays and are quite nice.
I think there is a lot to do most times of the year there and it is a fun place to visit.

                              Newport`s - Old Stone Tower

Perched atop a hill in Newport, Rhode Island, an old stone tower stands
as one of this country's longest enduring architectural enigmas.

Known by many names, including the Viking Tower, Old Stone Mill, and Mystery Tower,
today this landmark is more commonly known as the Newport Tower.
