  • Another NYC question - where to stay weekend?

Those of you who recently were discussing NYC got me wondering. My parents will be in NYC on Sept. 28 - 30 and have been searching for hotels on hotwire.com Do you have any suggestions as to where to stay or where to find good hotel prices? They will arrive at JFK and would rather not have to rent a car for their short stay; riding the subway to-from the airport is doable? Any suggestions appreciated. By the way, I've heard of the Manhattan Club but what is the Hilton Club?

    Thanks!
May God bless your day! --- Debbie in "usually" sunny Florida <><

They're going to be there the same time Steve and I will be. As of right now I still don't know where we'll be staying. He is booking his business trip and we may just tack on the extra night or so there. I had gotten a "special offer" email from the Waldorf, but unfortunately it isn't good for the dates we're there. If Steve doesn't want to extend our stay wherever his company is booking him I may try bidding on Priceline since it will just be the two of us.

So, I was no help at all, right?

Oh yeah, I'm flying in to JFK also, only way I could get a direct flight from the west coast. I was just planning on taking a cab. Good idea? Bad idea?

What time are you coming in? If rush hour, I would call a car service ahead of time. I prefer to have a car service meet me at the airport to avoid waiting; I just checked my guy but it wouldn't make $ sense to use him as his rates to go into Manhattan are too high. When we lived in the city I used Carmel 212-666-6666, http://www.carmellimo.com/Airports.shtml, their rates look about the same as you'd pay a taxi.

I'm coming in at 3:30 p.m. (at least that is when I'm scheduled to arrive). I'm flying Jet Blue, which will be a first for me. That's the reason for flying into JFK instead of LGA, which is where we've flown into in prior trips. I appreciate the info.

          Super Shuttle

Hi...We recently returned from JFK, and I booked the Super Shuttle online. I booked a round trip, and they gave us a p/u time. The cost was $17 pp each way, plus a $6 tip. I prepaid it, and it worked well for us. Of course, the driver had to make a couple of stops for other passengers before we got to the Hilton.

For a Taxi service I use New Pueblo, They have Lincoln town cars so the cars are nice and fit plenty of suitcases. They are also cheaper than a cab. 718 458 3772 or 718 458 6464

I suggest that the hotel be relevant to the areas of the city most convenient to their activities.

Will they rely on taxi, walking, or subway/bus most of the time? That bears on convenience of location also.

Low price can in Manhattan be related to furthest distance from 5th avenue. Not always, but often.
