  • Looking for a Weekend deal in NY,NJ, PA, or CT.

The Mrs. has put in a special request to book a getaway weekend for the end of January. She wants to go on a mini vacation. Can anyone recommend any good deals in NY, NJ, PA, or CT.

    Thanks in advance!

Depends on what you like to do?
    Do you ski? Downhill? Crosscountry?
    Shopping? Restaurants? Museums?

There are some resorts in Lake Placid NY where you can sometimes get a weekend.
Lots of resorts in PA in Poconos area.

Are you looking for a TS or just anywhere?

If you are a member of RCI, look at Last Calls, they will cost b/t $179 and $249 (apx) for the week. I only checked the Poconos, but there are a few available. If you are an II member, check Getaways.

Not really into winter sports more like Shopping, Restaurants, and Museums. But we would like to just getaway!

I have II and will look at the getaways, but most of them are for a full week. I really need just 2 or 3 nights on the weekend.

        Thanks

You can check Skyauction.com for bid per night hotel deals (watch for add-on fees, read the whole auction description). Otw, if you can find an RCI Last Call or a getaway cheap, it's worth it to use it for a few nights even though you pay for the week. Especially if it's in the $200 range...

Also, RCI had the Manhattan Club on Extra Vacations, they were doing 3 night weekends, not sure if they still have January, though.

Saw something in Atlantic City at The Flagship Resort. Will have to speak to the Mrs. in the AM. Poconos, or Hershey would another good choice. Still open to more suggestions.

            Thanks

DH and I have been wanting to get a few days in Washington DC to do the stuff the kids wouldn't like in terms of museums, etc...

Another great place, close to home, is New Hope, PA; there are plenty of B&B options, restaurants, shops/galleries. And only about an hour and a half from Queens...

Also check out Newport, Rhode Island... though a lot farther than New Hope...

eta: January is a great month for discounts on NYC hotels and theatre tickets...

I think that a New York City Getaway, is a great idea. Usually, there are discounts, and packages available on hotels in January. Broadway has some great shows at bargain prices. The museums will be relatively empty. Restaurants will not be crowded and the stores will all be having blow-out sales.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Sounds like you need a friend to get you an EV to Manhattan Club.

No housekeeping fees and those rates are a steal for midtown Manhattan.

Speaking of shopping; we usually have a tax free week in January for clothing under $110 as well.

I like the Manhattan Club idea. And January is the slowest time for NYC, so you should be able to get a nice hotel deal using an online booker or just calling the chain you like. Theater tickets also will be discounted more than at touristy times. Good luck!
