  • Priceline Jan/Feb NYC hotels

I had to go up to $140/nite to get a 4* in Midtown West. Booked the Sheraton on 7th avenue. If you don't mind the Midtown East/Grand Central hood, there have been some Grand Hyatt rooms posted on biddingfortravel that people have gotten in the same price range. Still a great deal for the city, I haven't seen anything under $229 (Sheraton) for the same dates.

That is a great deal.....I've been looking for an overnight stay for Jan. 20th, and can't find anything under $200.000 a night.

I put in a bid on Sky Auction for Astor on the Park....I never stayed there, but I heard that it's been redone. I doubt that I'll get it, tho.

      Angela,

Astor on the Park is pretty far uptown, you should call them, it looks like 108th street....

It's pretty close to your date, I would try Priceline. I'm not thrilled about the Sheraton but it will be ok, if I hadn't included Midtown West I'd have been better off with the Grand Hyatt in Midtown East.

Avery....Saturday, in the day, I think that we will be going to the Museum of Natural History with my DD. I figured that I could get a good deal at Astor, and that it would be fairly close to the museum. I didn't realize that it was that far uptown, tho, that's pretty much Harlem.

We were thinking of maybe going in for Fri, & Sat. night. Now it looks like we are just going in for Sat. night, so I don't want that location, anyway. I'm gonna poke around today, and see what I can find. Good thing that you told me it was 108th St....I never even checked.

I just made a reservation at the Marriott on Lexington Ave for $229.00. Just to have as a back-up, if I don't find anything better. ( I will most likely cancel this)

It's not great, but I did get with it.......

          • Two tickets to the Top of the Rock Observation Deck, rising 70
stories above Rockefeller Center offering breathtaking views of
          Manhattan
          • An exclusive Bloomingdale's 11% off all-day savings certificate
valid at the 59th Street & Lexington Avenue location.

So, now I have an excuse to go to Bloomies.

Sheese....20 - 30% would have made this a much better deal!!!!

Angela, just wanted to tell you that my neighbor tried to take her kids to the Museum of Natural History a couple of weekends ago and she said that it was an absolute mob scene. She said the whole lobby was filled with people trying to get in and the line went outside, down the steps, and around the block, which neither of us had ever seen before. (She didn't go.)

She said she thinks that Ben Stiller movie Night at the Museum is making people go--they take their kids to the movie and then decide it would be great to go to AMNH as a follow-up.

Just a heads-up. Might be better to wait till the movie has died down a bit.

Did you try Quikbook.com? They have some marginally better deals for that night. Some marginal hotels, too. But some that I think are supposed to be nice. They have the Affinia Dumont in Murray Hill for $199 but none of the goodies.

Wacky.....My DD wanted me to go with her, and do some sketches, and get some ideas for a project. She needs to have this done for school, so unfortunately, she can't wait. Maybe I can meet her during the week, tho. I'm in no mood for a mob seen.

                Thanks for the warning!!!!

Yes, I would definitely try during the week rather than the weekend. After about 11, when the field trips have left. Should be just you and the toddlers.

                    Angela,

If you stay two nights at a Marriott, you can use one of the MarriottBucks $100 coupons, they go for under $20 on ebay... even if you book the room through a discount site, the $100 can be used toward restaurants, etc. billed to your room...

That would be great if I knew that they could be used at this Marriott. Are they good for all Marriott's?

This Marriott is also offering a 'Stay Fri & Sat, and get Sun. for FREE. I don't think that we can stay on Sunday, tho. Too bad.

I think I have a Marriott $50 coupon that I could give you, Angela. I have to go look and see how much it's for. It does call for a two-night stay.

I was going to use it in Pittsburgh in April but we got a Holiday Inn or something on Priceline for $42 a night!

You'd have to check the fine print (usually listed in the ebay ad), but they are usually good at most, if not all, Marriott hotels. Some other related brands are excluded (included MVCI unless renting direct from Marriott).

The boutique hotel is situated on Madison Avenue in midtown Manhattan, walking distance from Fifth Avenue shopping, the Broadway Theater District and the Empire State Building.

To book: Click here to reserve online or for more information on the hotel. You can also call the Morgans at 1-800-334-3408 and make sure to mention Travelzoo. Book by Jan. 19.

OK....I'm going to check into it. If I could get a couple of coupons, I think it would be worth paying the $229....It will also go toward my 10 night minimum stay, to be a silver member. Thanks!!!
