<cringe> I thought long and hard about this before I posted here. This is not in response to the OY thread. I am not looking to debate whether this should be allowed or not. The reasons health or otherwise why is should be allowed or not, ad infinitum. I KNOW there are a few that DO allow it and that is all the info I am seeking.

<disclaimer> this is NOT for me. I have someone check in on my furry friends while I am away. I wouldn't want to listen to the yowling from the backseat.

I have a very good friend who has a very well behaved animal that would like to exchange thru either II or RCI for a resort that would allow said animal to stay with her.

I guess as I age the brain cells also go. I clearly remember somewhere a list of pet friendly resorts. Maybe it was lost in the many upgrades or server transitions. I can't find it.

I know there was at least one II Lake Placid resort that allowed pets. Am looking more towards a Poconos or other north eastern resort that will allow four footed friends. Even for an additional fee if necessary.

The two links in my first post, petswelcome.com and dog friendly are good for searching different states. Most of the locations in those links are hotel and other lodging, not necessarily TS.

ETA:

Most of the resorts in the RCI list seem to be overseas. I just don't know all of the resorts and where they are located.

Not the Poconos, but in the Berkshires... Oak N Spruce allows pets, and Vacation Village has a dedicated Pet Friendly building that should be reserved in advance. They are good about assigning those units on request in advance if they are available.

When we were at Mountain Edge Resort in New Hampshire last week, they told us they had a couple of units that allowed pets. They have a resident dog in the office and are clearly pet lovers. The resort is new and very clean.

Lawren, I didn't bring my dog, but it was a great stay in August, and the resort was much nicer than I expected it to be. Yes, lots of hiking and laking available I recommend a trip to Bash Bish falls, avec chien... about a 45 minute drive, but worth it (lots of good trails, and a nice payoff waterfall).
