  • Help with Boston hotel near Logan

I need to book a hotel near Logan in July... Looks like the Hilton and Harborside Hyatt near the airport are both pricier than I'd hoped. Priceline seems to have better deals for downtown and Copley Place.

Can anyone give me an idea of other close areas to Logan to look, and how long I should allow to get to the airport? We'll have a 7 am flight, so really should be close.

    thanks

IMO Use Priceline and stay close to the airport. Normaly PL price can not be beat but check BiddingFortravel.com - The informed Priceline Travel Bidding Forum to see what bids have won first.

Check the Marriott Cambridge. I think it is a very short blue line trip from the Marriott. It would be much closer tham Copley area.

If it's any help there is a Legal Seafood on site.

With a 7am flight, you won't have any traffic problems getting to the airport no matter where you stay, assuming you want to arrive at the airport by 5:30-5:45 or so.

Based upon your stated concern about the cost of a night at the Hilton and Hyatt at the airport, I would avoid most of downtown Boston, Copley and the Cambridge Marriott, all of which have typical Boston sky-high prices. Also, to get from the Cambridge Marriott via the "T" (the subway) as Lawren suggests, you would need to take the Red Line, transfer to the Blue Line and still take a bus to your terminal once you get to the airport!

If you really want to stay within a mile or two of the airport, I recommend you follow Frank's suggestion and use Priceline. Enter a price that's acceptable for your hoped-for pricing.

If you choose not to use Priceline, my choices for making lower-cost direct reservations at hotels near the airport would include:
Holiday Inn Boston-Logan Airport (free airport shuttle)
Hampton Inn Boston Logan Airport (free airport shuttle)

The rates are likely to be lower for those two properties than for most of what you will find in central Boston-Copley-Cambridge and you can take the hotel's free shuttle to the airport, which would generally not be available from downtown hotels.

I believe my parents have stayed at Embassy Suites at/near the airport - free cocktails in the evening.
And there is also a Holiday Inn??? Dave M would know.

            Hilton at the airport expensive??

The last time we stayed in Boston, we found a room at the hilton at Logan for just $100 on a internet special.

Priceline and Hotwire will get you a room cheap. $95 for a 3* and $99 for a 4* on Hotwire.

I have tried Priceline, couldn't get anything 4* for $140 for my dates... I'm pretty sure the Hilton is a 4*. I will try again later, I have time. I suppose I could slum it and go for a 3*

Will also check Hampton/Holiday Inns... I just can't stand those "under the window" individual a/c units...
