On Saturday, July 14th, 2007 at 8PM, the Inter-Media Art Center (also known as “IMAC”) in Huntington, Long Island will present an evening with glam rock group New York Dolls.

The New York Dolls created punk rock before there was a term for it. Building on the Rolling Stones’ dirty rock, Mick Jagger’s androgyny, girl group pop, the glam rock of David Bowie and T. Rex, and the Stooges’ anarchic noise, the New York Dolls created a new form of hard rock that presaged both punk rock and heavy metal. Their drug-fueled, shambolic performances influenced a generation of musicians in New York and London, who all went on to form punk bands. And although they self-destructed quickly, the band’s two albums remained two of the most popular cult records in rock & roll history.

The New York Dolls are, simply, the Beatles of attitude. And so we have official studio release One Day It Will Please Us to Remember Even This, where the New York Dolls’ hallmarks: perfectly mean riffs, deceptively sweet choruses and miles of that infamous attitude meet the 21st century. The New York Dolls are David Johansen (AKA: his famous alter-ego lizard lounge singer “Buster Poindexter”), Sylvain Sylvain, Sammi Yaffa, Steve Conte, Brian Koonin, and Brian Delaney.

Tickets for this performance are $45.00 ($34.00 for IMAC Members). For tickets or further information on this performance, or on other IMAC programs, call IMAC's 24-hour Arts-Line at (631) 549-ARTS. Tickets can also be purchased at the theater from noon to 6PM, Tuesday through Friday, 2PM to 6PM on Saturdays and after 2PM on the day of the performances. For further information, call IMAC's business office at (631) 549-9666.

Oh, I know, it's going to be a blast. Though I think the Irving Plaza venue is more suited to them than the Imac, much as I like having seats these days...

Alas, there are no other dates on their website, but maybe if the Imac show goes well they'll do some more shows in the area...

Joey's BDay party is always PACKED, mobbed.

We can hope something comes along later in the summer or fall.

        Looking For A Kiss

I always seen you, just before the dawn
When all the other kids, where just draggin along
I couldn't believe the way it seemed to be
Rememberin the things, you used to say to me

        (About...)
You know I can't be wastin time
        Cus gotta get my fun
I got to keep on movin
Cant stop til it's all done

Listen when I tell ya, you got no time for fix
Cus I just gotta make it, cant afford to miss
And there's one reason, I'm tellin you this
        I feels bad....
And I'm lookin for a kiss

Why wontcha tell me, why those kids are moving so slow
Is it just because they dont have no place to go
When the day starts breakin, the sun is gonna shine
It's hard to sleep, when I been cryin

        (And...)
        All you ladies are on
Yor way to church (I'm beggin)
Will I just be a' roamin
Lookin for the thing that I search

Listen when I tell ya, you got no time for fix
Cus I just gotta make it, cant afford to miss
And there's one reason, I'm tellin you this
        I feels bad....
And I'm lookin for a kiss

Well I been lookin for a real hot kiss...
You think it's bad, but you know that its true
So why don't let me live baby
When I'm lookin for a kiss

When everyone goes to your house, they shoot up in your room
Most of them are beautiful, but so obsessed with gloom
I aint gonna be here, when they all get home
They're always lookin at me, they wont leave me alone

I didnt come here, lookin for no fix (I know...)
I been houndin the street all night late baby
        Justa lookin for a kiss

        I been fixin a kiss

I didnt come here, lookin for no fix (I know...)
I been haulin booty, all night long
        Just lookin for a kiss
