  • Atlantic City/Abescon dining - requesting comments

Staying at MFV - Seaview early fall and already came across info here and on tripadvisor regarding restaurants in the AC area.
I have seen mixed reviews of Marriott Seaview dining from many. I would rather explore the area for unique dining options anyway.

I am interested in trying the establishments listed here while in the Atlantic City area. I would appreciate any opinions, personal experiences, strong recommendations, etc.
    Thx.

    Been to any of these?
    Smithville Inn (Smithville Village)
    Cafe 2825 (AC)
    Rifici's Ristorante (Abescon)
East Bay Crab & Grille (Egg Harbor)
    Corky's BBQ (Trop Qtr.)

I actually enjoyed the Sunday brunch at the MFV. It was fabulous, and I would highly recommend it to anyone. We also had their 6 course dinner, and that too was great.

Sorry, I haven't eaten at any of the places that you mentioned.

    Have a great trip.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

      Thanks Angela. No problem.

Our first stay at MFV. Although after summer's warmth, we don't plan on the shore, we are looking forward to use of the Seaview resort facilities, AC activities, golf (QOLF?) etc.
It appeared the Abescon lighthouse is closed for the season. I guess Oct. is offseason and visitors cannot walk up to top. Too bad.
We won't rule out MFV dining room.....

Since I live so close I'm embarrased that I can't help you more.

Smithville Inn..Haven't been there for several yes but used to be excellent. I'd chance it. Probably still good.

East Bay Crab and Grille... nothing fancy . Might be good for lunch. Haven't eaten ther recently either and it is real close.

I can offer 2 suggestions..Ram's Head Inn on Rt 30 in Absecon.. excellent food.

Joe Italiano's Maplewood on Rt 50 in Mayslanding if you love Italian food...casual dress and best salad ever And yes the owner's name is really Joe Italiano. He owns 4 restaurants within 30 miles of each other and all are successful. Be prepared for a wait on the weekend but week night is usually easier. You won't be disappointed.

          KayH,
Just getting back to TS4M as I was away over the past several days.
          I appreciate the suggestions.
We always include plenty of good italian dining in our travels. We should check out "Joe's" while in NJ. How far is Mayslanding area, Rt. 50, from MFV, Abescon?
I saw elsewhere that others have mentioned Ram's Head. Very well regarded.
Noticed that Smithville and Egg Harbor are very close. Not a lot of feedback but I saw mostly positive on the Smithville Inn, so if we can fit that into our plans we'll check it out.
........do you dine out only occasionally in the AC area? thanks again.

There is a famliy style Italian restaurant in the Quarter at Tropicana called Carmine's that I have heard is very good. We've eaten at Joe Italiano's too, great food, better than average service, felt like I was eating in Mama Italiano's kitchen, though....

Ram's Head Inn is on Rt #30 in Absecon and pretty close to Seaview (also a little pricier). Joe's Maplewood is on Rt # 322 (my error) in Mays Landing, about 20 to 30 min from Seaview. It is my all time fav. Lot's of pasta choices, delish salad served family style, casual dress and reasonable prices.

Egg Harbor and Egg Harbor Township are not exactly close to each other. They are 2 separate places. Egg Harbor Township is closer to where you will be.

We do not go into AC specifically to eat but will eat there if we are already there. DH doesn't like to wait to be seated for dinner and refuses to wait if wait is over 20 min.

I hope you give Maplewood a try and if you do please let me know here how you liked it. Portions are large and we usually eat all the salad, they serve both garlic bread, which I eat and a loaf of hot home made Italian bread, which DH eats and 1/3 of our platter. We bring the remainder home and have it for dinner the next night.

There are really lots of good restaurants in the area and these are just 2 suggestions.

We always go to the Oyster Creek Inn in Leeds Pt. It in the middle of nowhere...good seafood, moderately priced...not fancy at all.

La Famiglia is in Galloway, I never ate there but I heard it was great Italian food. Joe's Maplewood is good food, too, but not so much in the ambiance department. Carmine's in the Quarter is great if you have a big party or a big appetite, it's family style....

...I just realized that I said most of that already a couple of years ago....

We like La Agostino in Brigantine at the lighthouse. BYOB, family-run. authentic Italian - home made pasta, stuffed artichokes, broccoli rabe 'n sausage, ricotta cheesecake.

While you on the island, pick-up some goodies at Aversa's Bakery/Italian Deli.

The Borgata has some nice restaurants, Bobby Flay's Steakhouse and The Old Homestead Steakhouse which we will be trying out this evening.
