I thought we were not going to be able to make our NYC trip, which is in two weeks. Work was looking like it was going to be a problem. Well, the horizon is cleared and we're back on schedule.
I'm a person who has my vacations planned for spring of 2009!! I had done some pre-planning but had sort of laid it aside when it looked unlikely we were going.
Because this trip is completely outside my husband's comfort zone, I think we'll probably go for the Gray Line hop on hop off three day pass thing. He is much more comfortable with a tour type thing than striking out on our own. Combine that with a Circle Island tour and a show or two - yes, we'll get same day tickets as we don't really have any "must sees" - just the experience of live theatre is what we enjoy. That, supplemented with a few things should probably keep us busy for the six days we'll be there and I'm hoping after the three days of hopping, hubby may feel a bit better about heading here and there ourselves. I have subway maps, etc.
We fly into Newark and I think I'll get a car so that we're not hassling with cabs and stuff after a long flight there. I've never taken a vacation where I didn't simply rent a car so this is all quite different. Will probably go with Carmel as they've been recommended here and I can do everything online.
One question for now - although I'm sure I'll be driving everyone nuts in the next week or so. Our flight is scheduled to leave Newark at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday the 8th. What time should I schedule the car pick up from the Manhattan Club? We don't officially have to check out until Friday morning, so we can stay there until we have to leave. We are not risk takers - would rather have to hang out at the airport for longer than run the risk of not being there on time.
Anything major I'm missing? I'm really excited, just wish my husband was a little more enthusiastic.
Bev
