  • The INS and OUTS of our trip!

Finding nice and nearby restaurants wasn't easy but we did fine an Italian place a few doors down that served breakfasts (after the fire drill, that was about as far as I could walk). Our daughter was also very sore and she has stairs in her house so I didn't feel too bad about seriously considering chopping my legs off! About two days later, my hubby went golfing and I chose to stay in the condo praying on alarm would not sound again. My tummy started rumbling and I found that no matter how much pain one is in, one can run short distances if they have to! I had a nasty bout of food poisoning--ARGH! This vacation wasn't turning out too well! Another day passed before I started feeling somewhat better so we did do a little driving around. (My Cape May trip was cancelled as there was no way I was going to be able to walk around there as we had planned). I really enjoyed the smaller town of Brigintine--darling houses, nice views of the marsh and ocean. If I ever have to relocate with the Witness Relocation program that just may be at the top of my list with Newport, Rhode Island! :O) By this time we had one day left which we spent reading and playing card games while enjoying the ocean view. Our last evening, we ate at a newby Irish pub--not easy to find but food was good and fun atmosphere--I guess my Scottish ancestors thought it would be OK to rub elbows with the Irish! By the time we walked (at this point I could identify my gait as walking rather than hobbling) to the condo as thousands of people started arriving by land and by sea (not to mention air). The Sands Hotel had passed it's last day and was to be blown up that night. We checked out where our best view from the condo would be, toyed with going up on top of the building but the management jinxed that thought. After 6 minutes of some truly lovely fireworks, 800 sticks of dynomite went off! WOW! Our building took quite a blast from the shock waves! I swear it lifted off the ground about 2 foot and slammed back down! Thousands of people started cheering and yelling. Clouds of dust and smoke roiled down the street making hundreds of people start running. We were above the clouds and the views was awesome! We were able to watch a different angle of the implosion on the news that night. Thus, our Atlantic City escapade ended with a HUGE BLAST!!!! We'll probably never go back there (we don't gamble or drink) but this is one timeshare exchange we won't forget any time soon!
