  • Lake Placid Club Lodges

Initial reports from my boys is that the units are huge, and nice, including large flat screen tv (perfect for today's game).

It was -15 degrees when they got up this morning, has warmed to a toasty -1. Somehow I think I'm just fine having stayed home...

The flat screens must be new since I last stopped by there.

I sure hope they brought those packet things you stick in your mittens and boots that warm you. I only had to use those once for skiing out in Vail one year.

Yes, the units have been recently refurbished. And the kids use the handwarmers, but their snowboard boots are a real pain to get on and off so they don't usually use the foot ones. DH emailed me from the lodge, he was taking his sweet time hitting the mountain... and I am trying not to worry long-distance, my kids would rather get frostbite than quit early.

Still a few summer weeks in 2009 sitting in RCI, folks....

        You're a great Mom!
Wait until they come home and defrost in the unit's cedar sauna.

You were the smart one. -15 degrees!? I'm freezing here at home at 55 degrees. (Yes, I am a wimp).

              It's Cold!!!

Hi, I live about an hour from Lake Placid and believe me- you are missing nothing by staying home. I think your family must be snowboarding at Whiteface, right? It was so cold today I did not want to leave the house. At least it probably wasn't too crowded on the mountain. The sauna will be heaven. Kathy

My son says to me this morning that I have not taken him snowboarding in years. Well I said I offered to take you on MLK weekend which is now weeks ago. He said he had plans but so far I do not see what plans he had since we hung out together Friday, Saturday and now Sunday.

Yes, they were skiing/riding at Whiteface. The kids had a great time despite very icy conditions. Their friend's dad broke his arm yesterday.

To bad about the break, I know what that is like when someone in your party gets hurt while away. My sons best friend pulled his Shoulder out while snow boarding Whiteface 2 years ago at Lake Placid. That was right after they had operated on it and told him he would not have problems again.

We stayed there a few years ago before the refurbishing and I would have gone back again if I could fit it in. With refurbishing, the place should be a knockout.

Knockout pretty much sums up my guys' review Btw, it was a 9 mile drive to Whiteface

New Year's week 2011 on hold

Planning ahead...is the consensus still that this place is wonderful? My 5 year-old just learned to ski this season at Jiminy Peak in the Berkshires and loves it. She'll be ready for Lake Placid by then.

                          Should I keep it?
