So I'm going to NYC for a weekend in May to see the Little Mermaid (for a friends bday)....where's a good place to stay that won't cost me $500 a night!

So I'm going to NYC for a weekend in May to see the Little Mermaid (for a friends bday)....where's a good place to stay that won't cost me $500 a night!

This past May, hotel prices were very very high. It would be a good use of points if you have any, otherwise I would wait closer to the time and try Priceline. If you don't mind a long walk or taxis, the Beekman Towers has full kitchens, but is a long 10 block walk (or a $6 to $8 cab ride, or a short 7 block walk to a $2 bus crosstown) to the Times Square area. A quick check for a May weekend shows studios for $262, bion a relative bargain for the spring if this year's prices are anything like last year's. Another option is the Affinia Manhattan, better located for public transportation (though the neighborhood itself is not my favorite), and a relatively short walk uptown for the theatres. Current rates for May look higher, but they sometimes run specials closer to checkin if they have extra inventory. Right in the theatre district, some folks like Radio City apartments, they are good for location only, imho, but the rates for the studios are usually around $205 or so... (bring earplugs and don't expect much).

Having taken a look, I'd book something cancelable and do Priceline later on, you can limit the search to the Theatre District if you want to be close to theatre, and if you are willing to go down to a three star you should do ok, check Bidding For Travel. You can always add Midtown West if you need to.

One last thought: you can call the Manhattan Club and ask for the RCI rate, you may need to do a tour, 800-692-2121.

If you dont mine the 90 min. tour at the Manhattan club, you can get owners refferals that include Two broadways show tickets or $ 100 gift certificate for dinner, the rates are $199 per nite up to four nites, Holidays are highter like Memorial Day week, I get $150 visa gift card that I will past back to you,

If intrested call the Manhattan club at:1888-692-5822 and inform them :Howard Beswick reffer's you, May is a busy mth. in NY so you may not get to stay at the MC, but a nice Mid-town hotel,

When are you coming in May, Reason I ask is I have a unit at Montauck Manor that I am only going to use a few days, You might be able to use the rest of the week, unit sleeps 2

You come in on my birthday and that is the dates I will be at Montauck Manor to the 19th or 20th I hope.
