Wine & cheese Tasting in Queens NY 3/29 7pm $10 PP
I hate to tell you this but MIGHT BE plastic and we have no control over it. The wine distributer offered to bring his own, not sure what he is bringing but I bet it is plastic cups that are not that big. If you want glass and be sure you get glass you will have to bring your own. I thought about bringing myself a cheap wine glass, Problem is I do not have a cheap wine glass there all good glasses.
Now keep in mind if you are going to buy wine that you are paying less than the stores and restaurants do. We have an importer/distrubuter selling plus he is discounting it even further for us and giving the church $2 a bottle. So if you are paying $8 or $10 for a bottle that bottle sells for close to triple that. He also owns a half a vineyard in Italy that he just bought and is trying to get some cases sent over in time for the event.
I just put the Manhattan Club on hold for that weekend, PM me if anyone wants to split the week - I don't need Sat or Sunday and could also let go another night or two later in the week.
eta: just for fun, maybe I'll borrow the wine glasses from the MC
You might have missed it but we are trying to add that in now for this event. If we can not get the Gin/Vodka company to come I will look for a local bar that will send a bar tender to do that or just get either myself or my friend Sal to make them.
I can not say anything , You will not get any extra information out of me on what is in store
OK now I just thought of asking Joe to Donate higher end wines like Brunellos or Ruffino or Tiganelo's or something from Antinori not just to raffle off but maybe to have as a live Auction for. Imagine if we got an Opus one? :Pope: I think that might be fun trying to win that one from me because I would out bid you all on that one. So what do you think about having a live auction?
Well I was going to surprise you guys but I am letting the cat out of the bag because it is not going to happen.
I was trying to get Joe and Justin from www.winestilsoldout.com to show up to say hello and talk about wines or to even have a table there. I know there will be at least 40 of his costumers there that I turned onto his site alone. Unfortunately Joe just replied to say he can not make it. But he did say he wanted to support us by taking out an ad but we do not have a place to put his ad Now I am not about to take his money but I would be willing to accept some higher end wines to raffle off and say where they came from. I would also hand out some fliers and announce that the high end wines came from Joe and that these wines are from a separate raffle. Is this to much to ask for or should I just say thank you for offering to help out. I do spend a ton of money on his site. Today alone I got in 6 bottles of Brunelos that cost $300. As much as this is for the church to have Joe show up I think it was more for both me and for me to give my friends a chance to meet him.
So what do I ask for?
Oh and BTW do we have any NY Giant Fans out there.
Joe from wines til sold out . com got back to me, He is send us a half a case of the 1.5 liter bottles to auction off.
Frank,
I will ship you 6- 1.5 liter bottles to auction off...they are much more rare than 750's and display much better.
I will ship them late next week.
I am sorry I cannot attend. Maybe sometime in the future I can set up a wine dinner in New York.
Thank you for thinking of us.

This event just keeps getting beter and better. We are now adding in Beer tasting. There will be about 4 or 5 different beers there to taste as well as being able to buy it.

You know what would be nice so he knows it did some good, Every time we place an order put in the comments box write, thank you for your donation to the Wine tasting for Our lady of hope. Or write down that Timeshareforums loves you guys. This way Joe will know where we are coming from and just how much we buy from him.

Well we have had such good news regarding the wine tasting and the extra stuff we have added that there is some bad news that I will share. We are not getting any NY Giant players. We were told we needed to book them 2 months out which we were in contact with them at the time but they did not tell us we had to book them 2 months out. Right now we are [STRIKE]asking[/STRIKE] begging them to at least send us something to auction off but even that does not look good at the moment. Will know more in a few days.
"For subway riders, Frank says the 7 train is more than 1 1/2 miles away (get off at 69th and Roosevelt), and the M train is about 3/4 of a mile away. ".
Getting close now .!... Firstly is "Our Lady of Hope" a school or a church? What is the precise address if we get lost and need a cab. (thanks Frank for the offer to pick us up ..but you will be too busy that eve..so we will try ourselves .
Frank ..how many in the group now? Anyone like to meet earlier for a pizza or something ?
Regards Garry

Our Lady of Hope is both a Church and a School. As long as everyone that paid shows up as of right now, There is 20 timeshareforums members coming but acttualy more if you count myself and Viking boy and my friend Sal and Susan and Donna which have posted here. So there are about 25 or 26 members that will be there. Total it looks like a sell out of 300, We have about 40 tickets left and it hits the local papers next morning.
