  • notes from the Manhattan Club

The good news.. this is the first time ever I have been able to get a wifi signal from the bedroom - though they have touted wifi for a couple of years, signal has been useless from all suites previously assigned and we've had to use the hardwire in the ridiculously uncomfortable location at the end table in the living room. On the chance it's due to a previously unexplored room location, I am on the 21st floor, interior (random assignment). Yes there are a couple of rooms with small park views, but I still continue my refrain of "it's the Manhattan Club, who cares where you end up." I might change that if you are a group of 4 in a studio, since some are smaller than others, but when it comes to the 1 bedrooms, anything will do, and I think the same is true if you are 2 in a studio.

Upgrades this time include not only the flat screen TVs, but they have finally gotten almost appropriate furniture on which to perch them. Angela and I could still help them out in the furniture rearrangement dept The king bed is more comfortable, either new mattress or good topper, I care not, it's better, and pillows are better, too. The living room furniture is still in bad need of replacement and the window treatments and bedding are outdated, but there are thankfully new window shades that seem to function, hallelujah

Enjoy your stay. What a treat to be in the middle of Manhattan and walk to everything!

The upside of the interior facing rooms is diminished street noise.

Glad to hear that you finally have a wifi signal in the bedroom, and that the shades function, as well. Hey, those are big improvements.....As far as the re-decorating goes, tell them that we'll work cheap. The industry is suffering these days.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

"Here’s a huge, stately wine with a brick-based structure and mounds of lovely oak that is already so well integrated you barely notice it. Quite tannic, and will require come cellaring. When you do drink it, expect warm flavors, liqueur-soaked berry fruit and a mile-long finish. Hold until 2010, at least."

I had been tempted to get the Brunello. But if I am going to spend $83 on a bottle of wine, I ain't cellaring it until 2010.

I did not get the wine because I still have 2 of those from the last time they sold it.

I hope you can handle the movement of living room furniture with one of the men in your entourage. Those rooms need it.
Thanks for the update, (like I"ll ever stay there, oh well a girl can dream --)
I agree with Emmy -- these are little things that I would absolutely overlook because of location location location.

My husband and I got back from the MC yesterday. We had a great view of central park from the living room window. We had a fabulous time; we saw two off broadway shows, and A Chorus Line (husband had never seen it, and we got the tickets for going on the sales tour). It was a little annoying to pay $25/day when we didn't have to two years ago. I asked at the front desk what it was for, and she replied "for the services we provide". Still, it is a bargain.

If anyone is going to be in NYC for the next week, off broadway shows are having a special called 20at20. There are 15-20 shows to choose from. You show up 20 minutes before the show starts, and you get a ticket for $20. We saw Forbidden Broadway, which is a spoof of past and current Broadway shows; it was a riot, I laughed and laughed. We also saw Altar Boyz, which we also loved. The dancing was excellent, the singing was great, and it was funny. If you google 20at20, you should be able to get more details on this program. It started last Monday and runs for two weeks.
