      Arport hotels

Thanks for the hint Lawren :

We have in the past flown out of Toronto... (we live in upstate NY) when gong cross country (Canada) and Europe. The Vallhalla Inn does this too, watches the car for 14 da. and also a place that is nearer the actual entrance of the Airport is a place called the Constellaton. We have even dropped the car and took off in their shuttle,,, then when we return, the nite at their resort can be used. Price per nite ( I think it was nearly one half of what the Doubletree in NYC charges).

Actually that is the rack rate. I linked it to show the property and shuttle/parking rules. You can pick the same place up on Orbitz et al for $169/nite.

The problem with JFK is there are dicey areas in the nearer surroundings so you must be a little picky in where you will stay as well as leave your car.

While you can find a $169 rate on Orbitz, I believe that that is not a rate with which you can park while you are gone. All the area hotels have a separate rate package which includes extended parking, these are not what is offered on Orbitz or Expedia, I would not purchase them thinking you'll get it without talking to the manager at the location!

              Spence,

Is it cheaper just to stay at home and use a car service? (Is this for your son? Where is his "home base"?)

I've got an early a.m. flight to RdJ for three of us and it's a 4+ hour drive for me with no traffic problems.

                  Ohhhh....

I was going to tell you to just park at my house and take a car, but that so won't work for you. JFK is an hour and ten or so away from me....

Thanks, I'm going to be dead. Coming back from a week in London with #2 child on his Spring Break on Friday afternoon to DC, then leaving with spouse and #3 child on her Spring Break out of JFK on Sat morning.

Thanks Sharon and BF. If I weren't on such a tight/sleep deprived schedule I'd take you up on it. I think the hotel and hopefully a good nights rest will be in order. So we'll drive the new car up on Saturday evening and leave it at the hotel.
