WILLIAMS TO LEAD BOSTON POPS AND YO-YO MA IN MUSIC FROM HIS GOLDEN GLOBE AWARD-WINNING SCORE TO "MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA"
Celebrated composer and conductor John Williams will lead this summer's Film Night at Tanglewood on Saturday, August 12, at 8:30 p.m., featuring cellist Yo-Yo Ma and actor James Earl Jones. An annual favorite of Tanglewood audiences, this evening of music and film features Boston Pops Laureate Conductor John Williams leading the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra and Mr. Ma in a performance of music from Williams' Golden Globe Award-winning score for the new film Memoirs of a Geisha, as well as Mr. Williams' Grand Suite from Star Wars, with an original narration performed by James Earl Jones, the voice of Darth Vader himself.
All programs and artists are subject to change. Tickets for the 2006 Tanglewood season go on sale to the public on Sunday, February 12, through SymphonyCharge at 888-266-1200 or online through the BSO's website, www.bso.org, powered by EMC Corporation. Brochures for the 2006 Tanglewood season will also be available at that time, by phone or online. Tickets will be available in person at the Tanglewood Box Office in Lenox beginning on Friday, June 9, at 10 a.m. All ticket prices include a $1 Tanglewood Grounds Maintenance Fee.
