I stayed at Attitash in July of 1993 so my memory could be a little faded... The unit we stayed in was a huge lock off unit and I can't remember all the specifics. I do remember that the unit had a huge master suite on the upper level, really nice sized kitchen, lots of room. We were there with a total of five adults and we had plenty of room.

There is a great deal to do in the area in the winter and summer but I am not sure how April would be... Some of the hight lights I remember was "the flume" which is a wooden walkway through caverns cut into the rocks, Cannon Mountain, Clark's Trading Post (a must see - bears are awesome), Conway Scenic Railroad, spring skiing might be possible depending on the year.

Some things we did in the summer that I doubt you can do in April include driving to the top of Mount Washington, riding the Gondola to the top of Cannon Mountain and hiking (funny how different a ski slope looks with no snow).

The other thing that we did was took a number of small trips and hiking trails to see the many waterfalls in the area... Now, I was a robust 23 in those days and while I remember the hiking as being easy I am not so sure that 13-years later I would be quite so anxious to do the amount of hiking up and down the mountains I did back then.

The old man on the mountain is no longer there and I have often wondered what they did with that little park below where the old man was located? Is that park still there with a sign that says this is where the Old Man used to be?

The White Mountains of New Hampshire has a lot to see and do... Attitash Mountain Village gives you lots of room and is located close enough to all the major attractions so you can drive to them... You will want a car and if you are renting I would try to get a 4x4 as in April in the mountains you could always get snow or ice.

I plan to return to Attitash in the next few years with my family as I know kids will love the area!

Here is a page with more info that might help...

Obviously my 70-deg July experience will be different then the 44-deg avg temp you will experience in April

April is a funny month, it can snow or be short sleeve weather. It can often also be the beginning of "mud season". It may be the worse time of year to be in New Hampshire and that skews the definition of "value season" a bit.

I've never stayed in the "Suites" phase, but have been in some of the older units. There won't be a lot to do there in early April, but don't let that stop you from visiting. There is a lot to see in the area by taking day trips. We probably won't have much of a mud season this year since there's very little natural snow on the ground.

Use of the pool is free, and last I knew they didn't have internet service. I live about 2 hours from Attitash and spent a week at the Attitash Grand Summit resort last month. I'm going back up for St Patrick's Day weekend and can check things out for you if you want. If you and Bill decide to drive up, let me know and we'll try to stop in to visit.

          Norm,

Do you ski or know peoplr that do? I ask as I am curious how skiing was this year at Attitash?

We were at Killington during Valentines week and some of the south facing slopes were closed but most of the mountain was open... We have talked about a trip to Attitash to ski as my wife used to race there when she was in college and hasn't been back since. I figure if I ever decide to join RCI it would be one of a few areas I would be interested in trading our Killington week to try.

I belive your area is still far enough north that you can expect to have decent skiing but with a winter like this year it is always hard to tell! I figured this would be a good year to ask if the ski areas had good coverage in your area (if you knew).

Yes I ski, and skiied 4 days at Attitash during Valentines week. There was almost zero natural snow, but they do a good job making it. Most of the trails were open and the conditions were good considering. It's nice to have a lot of snow, but the bigger mountains can operate either way.

I had a pair of tickets to Black Mountain which is just north of Attitash. That mountain faces South and 80% of the trails were closed and completely brown. The conditions at Attitash should still be good for until their closing date which is scheduled for the first weekend in April.

I just got a Ski report from Killington indicating they got a couple feet of snow last week... Funny how it all depends how the storms go as to what you get! I know when we drove up to Killington we had more snow in our front yard in the Philli PA area then they had at the base lodge at Killington peak!

              Thanks for the advise!
