The New York City Waterfalls June 26-Oct 13, 2008
From June 26 – October 13, 2008, Eliasson will also present The New York City Waterfalls, a temporary monumental public art project commissioned by Public Art Fund, and presented in collaboration with the City of New York, consisting of four man-made waterfalls at sites within the New York Harbor. The installation will insert nature into the urban cityscape and will add a striking element to New York City's iconic skyline. Public Art Fund is joining with City and State agencies and environmental organizations to develop resources for young people and adults to enjoy the Waterfalls that examine the waterfront through the topics of art, history, environmental responsibility, aquatic life, ecology, water conservation, and other related subjects.

Discover the Park's history, ecology, and design on volunteer-led walking tours sponsored by the Central Park Conservancy.
Year-round, the Conservancy offers at least ten different walking
tours that highlight several areas of Central Park.

Our free guided walking tours take place year-round, rain, or
shine, except in extreme weather conditions (heavy rain,
snowstorms, 25 degrees or below, or 95 degrees or above).
The tours, led by experienced, knowledgeable guides who are volunteers in the Central Park Conservancy Walking Tour Program, last about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. No reservation is required for individuals or groups of six (6) or fewer people. The maximum number of individuals per tour is 40. Groups of six (6) or more people should call 212-360-2726 to schedule a custom tour (see information on custom tours below). Please be at designated location at least five minutes before the start of the tour.

Wow, this is great. Thanks a million for compiling this list. We will be in New York City next month for 15 days so I will be spending a lot of time checking out these links. There is so much to do and see in New York city that it is overwhelming.

We will be staying at the Manhattan Club for a week and the rest of the time at the Michelangelo Hotel in Manhattan. Any restaurant recommendations within walking distance of either place would be most welcome.
