  • NYC Brunch or Dinner Cruise

yes, I am asking a NYC tourist question; this is something I haven't done as a native, and need some help.

My dad's 80th is coming up; someone suggested a possible cruise around Manhattan. We'd be looking for a public yacht (rather than a private charter, trying to keep costs down and we are a relatively small group), that would be able to accommodate a party of about 15 to 20. Requirements are good food, and music that isn't too loud for the elderly members of the party. Not the Circle Line (that I've done)

I found a number of available things online, am just looking for any reco's from anyone that has done this. Would be either Saturday dinner or Sunday brunch.

    thanks!

We had done one that was pretty nice. I have to ask my wife what the name was. Another option is to book Giando's on the water in Brooklyn with a great view of the city.

I just asked DH as we did one - but he said it was 15 years ago!

Let me know and I will add it to the links....we were a party of 25 - maybe the boat held 80-100 people????

Spirit of New York and Spirit of New Jersey used to do those dinner cruises. (Those are the ships.) I've been on around-the-city type cruises with NY Waterway, but it was just a regular Circle Line type trip, not a fancy dinner cruise.

I know somebody who had his son's bar mitzvah on one of the Spirits and he was absolutely loaded and said it was great, but the son is now about 30 years old, so who knows what they're like now?

Would you consider coming over to NJ for a very elegant restaurant with a stunning view of Manhattan? Frank's Waterside in Edgewater is supposed to be fantastic, and I have that from friends whose opinion on food and elegance I trust. They also have good music.

Both cousin and Aunt live in NJ, so it's a possibility, thanks for the suggestion. Still, would rather be on a boat, it'd keep our group a bit more entertained...

And contained, which could be good or bad, depending.

Oh, right, World Yacht. I've seen their boats on the river. Do the dinner cruises look nice?

We did it a few years back and it was very nice. Could have used more food but it tasted good.

Around the harbour. We were inside dancing with the music.

I found something that looks like it's probably run by the same company called Bateaux New York, looks a little nicer, decent reviews.
