We would then be scrapping the idea of a beach vacation but could visit both NYC and DC in one trip?

Like Spence said, fly open jaw and only need oneway bus ticket.

You can take the Boltbus or the new Megabus for a little a $1.00 oneway.

We took the Boltbus last month. Paid $24 DC to NYC for 3 people (5 hr on Sat am) and $18 on the return (4.5 hr on Mon pm). That's less than $15 per person round trip. The whole trip cost less than gas and toll. Bus was clean and not crowded. They have at least one $1.00 seat on every trip.

New York to Ocean City MD = 4.5 hours
New York to Williamsburg = 6.5 hours
New York to Outer Banks = 10 hours

With a great trader or points there are summer manhattan Clubs for 2009 available in RCI now.

Hershey and Washington via timeshare is next to impossible.
Thanks, Lawren! We really doozle and make a lot of stops, so it's hard for us to estimate how long it takes normal people.

P.S. You can get to Willamsburg in 6.5 hours????? Wow.

If you want to, you can take a day trip to Jones Beach beach from NYC.

Thank you all so much. I do think my kids would probably want beach and culture both. I notice that Marriott's Fairways also has access to golf. My dh and sons love golf. I think I will try for that one.
I am obviously not as seasoned of a traveler as all of you are..... I have never heard of open jaw flying. Thank you so much for sharing that! That could save some serious vacation time!

If anyone has any other specific resort recommendations keep them coming! It is so great to have your help! This is one area of the country I am not at all familiar with.
