Originally posted by Glitter BrunelloI took an 11:19 train home, didn't notice anything on my way to Penn -- did it blow through fast? In a restaurant, away from windows, or at the theater, you might not have noticed anything. It sounds like you were inside before it started and then didn't come out till it was just over.

Originally posted by wackymotherVery, very, VERY fast. The really intense part was no more than half an hour around here. Scary winds, sheets of rain, thunder and lightning, everything. Maybe it hit Manhattan farther uptown, because we got a lot of damage and we're across from about 160th St. or so.

Well, I just finished watering the vegetable garden, and now it looks like we're in for a storm. The rain Gods must love laughing at me. Out of nowhere, the sky has turned black, it's thundering, and lightning like crazy. Oh, and yeah, it's hot as heck, again today.Angela

Power out her on the 11th, part of the 12th, part of the 13th and twice today- phones and DSL are alternating with the power outages. We went out for the second time at dinner and the power just got restored at 9:47 and this time the DSL worked too.
Some say we were hit by a tornado but the national weather service said it was straight line winds of between 85-110 MPH. I only lost one big branch and about 22000 little ones. My neighbor across the street lost several trees and a piece of siding. The trees that fell just missed her gardens and house by inches. I spent most of the day over there cleaning up the yard.

Oy, and I thought that I was having a hard time with electricity. How terrible! What an ordeal, for you all. I sure hope that it stays on for you. I'm having trouble tonight, and hoping that mine stays on, as well.

DD is at an outdoor concert up in Foxboro, MA - but it should be over before the rain reaches there. I hope....
