Does almost staying there count? I sent away for brochures and almost booked it but ended up booking the Georgian instead because of the location. The resort from what I heard is the best in the area. I think Gophish lives not to far from there and might be able to give you more info on the area. There are many great restaurants in the area. My favorite was located near the end of the strip on the corner. It was sort of a bar Restaurant, What I liked about it was going there for Breakfast. You can smell the burnt wood that burned from the fireplace from the night before.

Sagamore is beautiful. Depending on how long you are staying, I would definately eat there at least once. It is located on kind of a small penensula and is a gated property. There are several other restaurants in the area, but, some of them may be closing up in late September. Most of the town will still be open though. If you like Mexican food there is a small Mexican place right on the main drag called Garcia's that we like. Also, you are only about 25 min north of Saratoga where there are lots of good restaurants.
If you are there 9/21-9/24 the Adirondack Hot Air Balloon Festival is going on just a few miles south at Queensbury Airport. This is usually quite a site, one of the largest in Northeast.
Check out this web site :

          Hope this helps.

Unfortunately I will be there the week after. I would have loved to attend the festival. Have you eaten at any of the onsite restuarants?

I have not personally eaten at the on site Sagamore restaurants, but, from what everyone I know that has eaten there has told me is that it is excellent.
I would guess the restaurants there to be a bit pricy tho. Like I said tho, there is always Saratoga Springs right down the road about a half hour or less. Lots of good restaurants there.
