  • Another ride another bird question

Today was absolutely gorgeous and being Thursday Los Tres Amigas y Sus Caballos went out for a ride at the Preserve.

We almost always see something new. And the old things are fun too. Turtles and deer, cardinals, today we saw the NY State bird which is pretty rare, some orioles and a gorgeous hawk.

The hawk is the one I have a question about. I see red tails all the time but this was much too big to be one of those. It was perched up on a dead tree in the forest but I would have to guess at about 2 feet tall. It had a fawny gold chest and belly with darker gold splotches and was well red tail hawk colored for the rest.

I think it was a red shouldered hawk:

Do you think I'm right? Or could it be something else? Anyway it was gorgeous

Sheesh, and I was all excited because a very pretty red bird came to visit, and was eating out of my new bird feeder.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Yeah. Lawren is such a show-off.

Actually, I just found a really great site with bird info:

      Birding - Birding/Wild Birds - Recreation/Outdoors - AllExperts.com

We had a nest of robins over our front door and I was able to find out all about robin nesting habits at this site. I asked a question and their expert got back to me within 24 hours!

Something about June brings out the turtles

We always start to see the turtles in June. Especally the large turtles. Must be the heat and sun?
