When did this start. I know Faust and Avery are there right now. Will they have to pay the $25 extra fees if they confirmed months ago. If they charge this I think that will make the MC much less attractive to many.Timeshareforums Shirts and Mugs on sale now! http://www.cafepress.com/ts4ms

Who do they think they are, Disney? I can't wait until the first II DVC exchange guest gets hit with a fee! Let the fun begin!
Seriously though no resort or resort group should be allowed to charge extra if an owner already pays for it (ie gets it included in their stay n/c). If everyone pays then, although I don't like it, it's at least consistant. And a second "When did it start?" question. I don't think they can add it now if it wasn't on the exchange disclosure when the reservation was made. I know Disney got slapped around for that by RCI years ago.

I was told it was $15, starting 4/1. I thought it was just for housekeeping and that it would be optional. I sure hope they don't tack on $150 per week to my April week there; I probably wouldn't have booked it had I known, and it's too late to switch gears. What are they smoking (not cigars) that they think they can charge every guest (regardless of whether they use the services) for that pathetic "business center" and the "data ports" in the rooms.
Frank, you do have ESP!!!!
edited to add: The only reason I am posting is because we had to come home for a day or two; I sure couldn't do it from the Manhattan Club.

Disney charges a $ 95 fee for transportation and whatever to exchangers. This and any similar resort charges for exchangers constitute extortion in my book and should be disallowed by any reasonable exchange company.

I just got my confirmation materials from the Manhattan Club for my 3/10 check-in, and it didn't say anything about extra charges.

I just looked at my confirmation from RCI dated 9/8/05 and it mentions nothing about the fee. Then I brought up the confirmation online to view it and it DOES state that the resort charges $15 for studio and $25 for 1BR per day.
This is crazy...
It suddenly makes the 4/2 more attractive then 4/4's
$175 addition per week is a BIG addition....$10 per day, people will grumble but $25...is a little much!

DVC has charged it for years
Originally posted by katiemacktimeos2, could you explain this....I am unfamiliar with the reference to fees and DVC....is it only charged to II exchange members? Is it per day or per week? Do you know the $$ amount?
It is very disturbing to hear that MC is following in this pattern. I can only hope RCI will remind them that the RCI afiliation requires that all benefits the owner recieves are to be delivered to exchange guests as well. If they charge the owners those fees then they can rightfully charge the exchange guests. if not they can't. If it were possible to police I would make sure that any incoming guest from any resort that charged exchange guests fees were also charged a similar fee when they exchanged to an outside resort. That would stop this nonsense quickly.
I hope RCI has the guts to make sure this fee is for all MC check ins and not just exchange guests. If they charge it they are suddenly going to get comments of "1" accross the board on my RCI coment card. If everyone did that the fee will be short lived unless they don't care about their Gold Crown ranking. Don't take this quietly if it's true.
