Haven't finished clearing out the fallen trees in my backyard yet, but, I have electricity anyway.
I can blow out of the snow but the ice was a big pain.
Just hope we don't get too much on Wednesday, as I am heading to NJ for Christmas with a stop in Manhatten to pick up oldest son on the way.

      Ken,
It turns out that KarenG and I live in the area that got hammered worst (Anthem). We *still* have snow on the ground and half the street, although the major streets are mostly clear.

Now they are saying 6-12" here.

and 1'1/2 hours later someone said 20"

I agree with you. The view of the snowcapped mountains is beautiful but I hate the cold wind that comes from there. Today was nice and warm in the sun. I didn't mind the rain because we needed it so badly but the roads are slick so have to be very careful the first day. We have lots of accidents when it starts to rain.

Same here, we are not equipped for the snow. The City mass called residents and asked them to simply stay home while they tried to clear main roads. Abandoned cars all over the place

We are in the same boat. If it snows any everyone runs to the grocery store to get milk and bread and the schools close down and the town goes to sleep. The transplanted northerners just shake their head in amazement. shaggy

                Ok Lawren, I believe you

We are on Day 3 of snow. It's not going away. I shoveled my driveway. In my entire life, I have never shoveled a driveway. I have no idea what a snowblower does-except the obvious-it blows snow. DH brought home a blow torch thingie. A propane tank with a flame on the end. It helped. I haven't seen the mail carrier in three days. I did get a paper today though and made it to the grocery store.

Eee Gads, how do you all deal with it?

And tonight comes the second storm of the season. Another 6" expected here with a change freezing rain to the south and east of us.

                    NOT WELL Stressy!
I remember one winter where we got 17 (little) storms, the kids were 1 and 3 and I thought I'd lose my mind - you couldn't get out...it never went away, just kept piling up.

                    You have my sympathies.

And the couple of 29" storms a few years back, after those, I hoped never to see any snow again.

We got nothing yesterday, and the forecast is the same for tonight /tomorrow (here, 40 miles south of NY, in central NJ)

We got 5-6" yesterday, and I just heard the same forecast for my area, for tonight.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I wish we had ANY snow here in Virginia. We don't usually get much and I just adore snow and going sledriding. There were a couple of years where we didn't get any and then one year that we did get snow - the ONLY time we got snow that year - my family was in Ohio on vacation - where it DIDN'T snow.

I would be sooooo excited if we could get a snowstorm like we did back in '94 where the drifts were over MY head.

We lucked out here. No snow so far but it is predicted for tonight. I just stay in. I don't drive until the roads are clear.

It hasn't stopped snowing here yet, but it has gotten very light. I should have everything shoveled by the time tonight's snowfall arrives.

We got 8 inches. Dug out. Went to work this morning and took the long way around to stay mostly on the more heavily traveled and flatter roads. Glad I did as they were still very sloppy and slick. Everyone seems to be reasonable about driving slowly today. I guess seeing all the cars in ditches yesterday does that. I must admit that most of us here in the tundra of the Lo-Hud Valley can drive in it, not that we care to.

I hear there are tons of spinouts still on the highways today.

Stopped at the supermarket on the way home which wasn't bad considering we are supposed to get another 4 to 6 inches tonight. I guess everyone raided yesterday...

I do hope this isn't going to be like the winter of '95/'96. That was brutal.

So Stressy tired of the pretty snow yet? I guess snow tires and chains aren't things your local post office has in stock.

I don't know how much we got, but it is excess of 6", I'd say somewhere around 9-10"
                                Underneath it all is ICE!!!.
MY DH fell and hurt his shoulder getting out of the plow truck. It's not broken, but he can't lift his arm, at least not without pain.
