Rain again here so I consider us fortunate as I hate getting around in the snow.

I'm obsessing on Lawren's new Barbie photo, and am dreaming of being on a sunny beach somewhere instead of living in another gray rainy NJ day.

Anyway since it is indeed the Winter Solstice that means the sunlight will begin to get longer from here on in!!!
Not so sure about that. While it will get darker later it will also get lighter later until sometime in January.

And it is snowing here again too.

The winter solstice is the shortest day of the year, and the longest night. After the solstice, the days do start getting longer. As BillyMach says, it's a bright spot this time of year.

The winter solstice occurs at the instant when the Sun's position in the sky is at its greatest angular distance on the other side of the equatorial plane from the observers' hemisphere. Depending on the shift of the calendar, the event of the winter solstice occurs some time between December 20 and December 23 each year in the northern hemisphere, and between June 20 and June 23 in the southern hemisphere, during either the shortest day or the longest night of the year, which is not to be confused with the darkest day or night or the day with the earliest sunset or latest sunrise.

The seasonal significance of the winter solstice is in the reversal of the gradually lengthening nights and shortening days.

Thank you. The picture is small but it looks beautiful. I love to see the snow and the big trees too.

Tell your hubby not to be so stubborn and have that fracture checked out or he will keep pain for a long time after.

          More pictures everyone, please!

Well, sort of blue. Sort of gray. I do see the sun, though!

No blue here- the snow has stopped and they are talking high winds. So I may get to shovel the driveway for the third straight day tomorrow.

Okay, just back from the hospital...he has a right fractured scapula and possible humeral head fracture...off to the orthopedic tomorrow!! He's in a shoulder immobilizer. He really didn't want to go to the hospital until tomorrow...why? I don't know!! It wasn't going away. At least now it's immobilized and he's resting and he's just thrilled it's not golf season.

Ay yi yi! I can understand why he didn't want to go to the ER on a Sunday--it's always better to go in daylight on a weekday if you can, because there are more doctors and they see you faster. But if you have to go, you have to go! Hope he feels better soon, in plenty of time for golf season.

Hard to believe he could let it go that long. I hope it heals quickly!

No wonder he was in pain. I am glad he went to have it checked out. No more snow plowing for him this winter, I guess.

Tell him to stay warm and comfortable.

Men! At least you got him to go and now know what 's what.
Hope you do get an appt soon -- we always have to wait 4 days for an orthopedist (and they don't care if you;'ve got a broken bone you still have to wait)
                              Hope he heals quickly,

The fractures weren't displaced so they didn't cause much pain until he forgot about it and moved his arm unintentionally.
This morning he's in bed and tired because the shoulder immobilizer is uncomfortable when he sleeps. But, I'm sure he'll be fine in a few weeks...no more shoveling. My SIL will come down to shovel the walks and I guess I will learn to drive the plow truck.
