I don't go to the Philharmonic, it's too often an expensive nap... but to sit out on the lawn at Tanglewood on a beautiful summer evening with a deluxe picnic, a nice bottle of Brunello.... well it doesn't suck.
Some of the best classical musicians in the world perform there. And if you looked, you'd see that James Taylor was playing at the end of August, Diana Krall on July 4th.... there are a few other neat things going on, too
Still, I'd take a Nine Inch Nails concert over Beethoven, any day

OK I could give the picnic idea a try, We have as you might know Brookhaven amphitheater which is a beautiful outdoor theater with a great lawn. I loved the Music of Led Zeppelin played from the Long Island Philharmonic and Randy Jackson of Zebra. I never heard Zep played that good and to see them stringing away to Kashmir was mind blowing. Only thing I do not think you can bring in wine.
Even this AC/DC fan goes to Tanglewood from time to time. Many moons ago we went to see a young violinist named Joshua Bell play and were very impressed.
