I had an exchange last week to the MC. Unfortunately, I had to have knee surgery and could not go. It was a Sat-Sat exchange, and my son/fiancee went Mon, Tues, Wed. night. They came home Thurs. afternoon and gave the keys to my daughter, who went in for Thurs. and Fri. night. He told her he left her a 3/4 full bottle of liquor (some sort of fancy mixer), two tickets to a comedy club, and a restaurant.com gc to Mars 2112. When she got there, the room had been cleared out of everything, including some magazines and papers. She went to the front desk to make sure they did not put her down as checked out. They confirmed they were not checked out, and referred her to security who made a report and made vague references to "compensation". She inquired again on Friday night and was told they were trying to locate the housekeeper who was off. They were going to call her, and consult the security supervisor. On Sat. morning they had the nerve to try to charge her $75 for the 5 nights of "hospitality" fees! My daughter said, "you want me to pay you for the housekeeping that stole my stuff?" The desk clerk insisted that the $15/nt is not only for the housekeeping but for the exercise room, internet room, etc. My daughter then told a supervisor that she would be filling out a police report for the missing items since she was not only not compensated, but that they were trying to charge her for the service that stole them! They reversed the charge, which more than covered the cost of the items, but she is still pushing for further compensation. Wait til the comment card arrives from RCI!

I am so sorry to hear that, Jackie. We have never had a problem like that, but I guess we'll at least make better use of the safe for jewelry, etc... while we're here. From the description of what was taken, though, it kinda sounds like it's possible that housekeeping messed up and thought the room had been vacated. Did they leave any personal effects at all?

I think that is what happened, even though they were not on the check-out list. They took their bags and it probably looked like they left for good. We weren't happy with the MC's resolution, or lack of it, however. It wasn't until my daughter mentioned police that she got any offer of any restitution at all, and that was because she insisted that she was not going to pay the hospitality fee.Jacki
