  • Seattle and North - Coast

We have an ongoing search in for Seattle and north to Canada along the coast. Knowing that there is limited chance of getting something between September 1-20, 2007, we are looking at other options. Need a two bedroom rental and would like to spend 2-3 days in Seattle and 3-4 days looking around the San Juan Islands area. Any recommendations? Our sister in law is looking to retire in 2008 and looking at options and the San Juan Islands always come up as a place for retirement.

Welcome (in advance) to the Seattle area! It would not be difficult to find great rentals in September in this area. It would work well for you to stay on one of the islands in San Juan for a few days to explore the area. That way you would not have the one to two hour ferry ride from the mainland (Anacortes) to get to the islands. As well, you would save money on multiple ferry fares.

The islands are lovely. So many great places. DH flies us up in a small plane from Seattle - only takes an hour and within walking distance of the air strips there are great places to eat and stay.

In Seattle you can also find inexpensive B&Bs. PM me if you would like some help with accommodations.

    Hope

vrbo.com is a pretty good site to find private owner rentals. I've not looked at them for the Puget Sound region, but I would be surprised if they didn't have listings for San Juan Island.

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

      “You shouldn't wear that body.”

        Hey Steve,

What do you think about Seattle's new motto: Metronatural?

Me thinks it is hilariously ridiculous. What is "natural" about a metropolitan area? Maybe Seattle will become a "clothes optional" city??

Hell would freeze over before the city council, the mayor or the (King) county executive were able to reach concensus on any one issue. I can only imagine the time and money it took to come up with this title.

But it fits the new state tourism logo - "Go WA".

          Hope

September is usually one of our best months weather-wise. You might be able to pick up a few days or a week at the WM in Birch Bay. It doesn't seem to fill up as much as some places. It would be a little drive to the San Juans but is also close enough to drive up to Canada. The Camlin in Seattle has also been seen by my husband on RCI. Enjoy your visit. Debby
