  • Eagle Crest Redmond Oregon

This resort is popping up all over the place at all times of the year.

What do people DO here? Do they ski, whitewater, rappel off mountains?

What would be a primetime trade period?

Pretty much all of the above, I own most of my timeshare weeks here, love the climate, 90s in the day, 40-50s at night. If you exchange, get a 3 bedroom, all 3 bedrooms are fractional units with large private decks with large private hottubs. 2 person jacuzzi tubs in master bath, the whole top floor is the master bedroom and bath.

Go the 3rd weekend in July, they have a nice draft horse show for the weekend right on property!

It is the high desert of eastern oregon.

So summer has hot dry weather. But not super hot like AZ. River rafting and swimming. Horse back riding, golf ect.

Winter is for skiing at the near by Mt Batchlor. Not real close but an easy drive. OR other winter activities.

I also own at this resort. It is a couple hour drive from Eagle Crest to Crater Lake. Also, Smith Rock State Park, which is reknowned for climbing and is also has some nice hiking, is about an hour away. There are 3 golf courses on site, and something like 6 pools. The Deschutes River runs thru the resort and is popular for rafting. As was mentioned, Mt Bachelor is nearby for skiing -- typically late into the spring.

One thing I'd take exception with is categorizing Eagle Crest as being in "eastern Oregon". Having grown up in eastern Oregon, the Bend/Redmond area is typically referred to as central Oregon, although it is most definitely on the eastern side of the Cascades and sports a high desert climate as described.

In general, it's an awesome family-oriented resort in a beautiful location. Very relaxing.

          Central Oregon

I'm planning a trip to Sisters, Oregon in July, 2011. How far away is Redmond? Would it be feasible for me to stay at this resort and drive down to Sisters? It certainly looks like a beautiful area.

A lot of those area descriptors are unique to the particular areas.

Your comment makes me think of what is "northern California". I think it's fair to say that most people think of San Francisco as northern California.

I've spent a bit of time in and around Redding, Red Bluff, Willits, and Eureka. I've known many people from that area who are adamant that San Francisco is "central California", and that "northern California" is the area north of Santa Rosa and Sacramento.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

            “You shouldn't wear that body.”

Sisters is about a half hour drive from Eagle Crest, if that. Eagle Crest is located between Sisters and Redmond -- about 10 minutes west of Redmond.

Agree with your regional definition analogy, but the Bend/Redmond area is definitely not only geographically more central Oregon, it's most commonly referred to as Central Oregon. For instance, the community college in Bend is Central Oregon Community College. Eastern Oregon State University is in La Grande. My personal perception: Western Oregon is west of the Cascades, Central Oregon stretches from the Cascades to around highway 395 (for lack of a better delineator) and Eastern Oregon is east of that, where it starts getting really ugly (unless one likes mile after mile of sagebrush......).

There's a smallish airport in Redmond (RDM). It's serviced by Delta, United, and Horizon.

City of Redmond, Oregon - Flight Schedules

Next closest would be Portland (PDX), about a 2.5 to 3.0 hour drive.

Sounds like a great place to visit! What would be a good 2nd week add on, either before or after visiting here? You know, reasonable travel distance between resorts, different scenery, activities, or something to make each place fresh, etc.

Anything on the Oregon coast, I'd think. There are TS's in Newport, Depoe Bay, Seaside and elsewhere. They are somewhat difficult to exchange into, however. Other (non-coastal) TS's within a few hours drive would include Running Y in Klamath Falls, OR, and Whispering Woods in Welches, OR. A full day of driving would get you to Aspen Village in McCall, ID; The Camlin in downtown Seattle; Wapato Point in Manson, WA, and probably a few others I can't think of right now.

Realistically, I think a week at EC and a week on the Oregon coast would be a great 2 week vacation -- ideally in mid July thru early Sept. Two totally different experiences within a few hours of one another.

                          Getting excited!

My family is going there and staying in a 3 bedroom the last week in June. Any special room to request, or section? I did not know about the private hot tubs, sounds great. Are there bikes to rent there? Anything special that happens on July 4th?

The airport is close, if you are an owner, they will shuttle you to the resort free of charge.

I may be mistaken, but I believe all of the 3BR TS units are river view (as compared to golf course view).

Yes, there are bike rentals -- at least 2, maybe 3 different locations.

I don't remember anything special at the resort for the 4th (no fireworks permitted), but there are decent (for a relatively small population base) fireworks at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds/Expo, which is about 10 minutes south of Redmond on highway 97.
