  • Park Regency, Park City, UT - property update

I took a ride around the block to take a look at the Park Regency this afternoon. Last time I looked (3 or 4 years ago), it was in bad shape but had just been taken over by Wyndham, or so I recall. I don't know what happened with that, but it is not a Wyndham property and is now managed by TPI.

Several nice changes since I was last there -- the lobby has been completely renovated. Very modern, with a large flat screen TV and an area with complimentary coffee/tea. The third floor rooms have all been tastefully redone from top to bottom -- new furniture, kitchen cabinets, countertops and appliances. Bathrooms not schmancy but clean and bright. The one I looked at was a nice size (the bathroom, not the unit, as per note below).

I was told that the first and second floors are not yet done, but are in progress or planned.

The one bedroom units there are small -- really only good for a couple. And I'm pretty sure the bedroom had only a full size bed, but if it matters call and double check -- it could have been a queen but I don't think so... The mattress was new and comfortable (at least to my limited testing). The one bedroom units (sleep 4) are less than half the size of the one bedrooms at Park Plaza where we are staying (though these are unusually large). I was told there are also some "One and half's" at Park Regency that are larger. Only 6 two bedroom units at the property.

The resort offers a shuttle service to Deer Valley and Park City Mountain resort. It is not "on demand" but the schedule is posted in the lobby and works around the typical ski day.

On the down side - aside from the unit size - the hallways are outdoors which makes for a chilly trip to the elevator and pool (enclosed).

Location is just off Bonanza in Prospector Square. About a mile or a little more to Park City Mountain or Main Street.

For the time being, depending on MFs, this could be a chance for people to pick up some cheap ski weeks before word gets out on the refurb and reviews improve...

Thanks for the update on this place. Would you stay there on vacation?

If I needed a ski trade and was traveling alone or as part of a couple, then I would take the one bedroom unit, provided I could get a renovated unit. For non-ski season, there are too many better options, and I would NOT stay in a unit that hasn't been redone. If there was a 1 bed/2 bath redone unit, that would work for a family of four.

          We own at Park Regency

We own there and are pleased with Trading Places as management company. They took over one year ago. They are easy to work with. We are able to secure Xmas reservations or Sundance reservations easily by calling with one year advance notice. We own a one bedroom but the resort allows you to upgrade to a 2 bedroom for an upgrade fee. Also you can deposit your week in RCI, II or Trading Places. I believe II gives a bonus week for ski week deposits. Not sure about this, but we have received bonus weeks for other Park City winter deposits. This year we are trying Trading Places and they are very accommodating. We are able to trade over to Sweetwater lodge for ski weeks in either 2 or three bedroom units for an upgrade fee. So ownership at Park Regency is not expensive and it is a way to get Park City reservations in the wintertime.

Just wondering how you liked Sweetwater? I haven't seen those units in quite a while - the location is great for winter.
