  • Ore at St. George Utah

Does anyone here know anything about this resort? A quick summary of pros and cons would be great ...thinking of going there.

Stayed there several years ago, for the location to visit Zion, Bryce and quite a few other gorgeous Utah state parks.

There were 4 adults in the 2-br unit, I believe it had 2 baths. I'd describe it as functional and basic, not a lot of room for lounging, furnishings on the spartan side, and I don't think the living room furniture was that comfortable - but mostly we were on the go anyway. The pool was great though - there were 2 pools, one with lots of kids, and a separate one for adults only, nice and quiet with a great view and rarely crowded. We hardly spend time at resort pools but we really enjoyed this one.

We were there in late May, St. George was pretty hot, some days in the 100's. It was close enough to Zion for a couple of day trips to the main park, and one up to the separate part whose name I always forget. I loved Bryce, and Cedar Breaks, where there was still quite a bit of snow, and I loved the road between Cedar City and Bryce. Brian's Head would probably have worked as well, but either location is great, as long as you like driving or riding when the scenery is so pretty.

Three of us loved this trip; one in our party doesn't like to be in a car as much as this trip required, it got to her after awhile. So distance to parks could be a "con" for some. The 3 of us hearty car travelers headed to North Rim and then Lake Powell after our week there.

      Laurie,

Thanks so much for the quick response. You summed it up nicely, and it was pretty much the feeling I got about it that it was a nice enough, yet spartan TS but the close proximity to parks made it a good choice.

One of my favorite days there was taking off over route 12 (must be one of the most scenic roads in the country) past Bryce, and stopping for short hikes at Kodachrome State Park and Petrified Forest State Park, past Capitol Reef NP which unfortunately we had no time to stop at though it looked gorgeous - then continuing up more scenic route, and back by interstate since it was so late. The variety in terrain was amazing. It would have been worth it to spend the night right outside of Bryce for a longer day there, and then get an earlier start on this loop. If you go I highly recommend these parks as well - and we had them almost to ourselves. You could easily fill up 2 weeks in this area and never get bored, based on your avatar I'm sure you would enjoy an exchange there!

Thanks so much for adding these thoughts, Laurie. You are so right...our most enjoyable days are and have been spent in parks....state, local, and national. Being close to nature makes us feel closer to God. Thanks for your sharing your joy.
