  • Park City - TS go or don't go?

We're looking at Park City for skiing. Are there any resorts you would recommend for a family of 5 (kids ages 4 to 8)? More importantly, where would you NOT stay and why?
    Thanks!

I would pick Marriott MountainSide as you are literally at the base of the mountain. We love that resort for skiing as well although I haven't been there with little kids. I do feel PC Mountain resort has more "beginner" terrain than some area resorts. Plus Marriotts just seem the most family friendly to me in general and we have stayed there with kids in the summer and enjoyed it a lot. We have friends who own at Westgate and really like it but I am not sure the Canyons is as kid friendly as a resort in general.

You would need a Platinum Marriott to exchange into prime season at Mountainside through II. A non-Marriott gold laurel (or whatever it is) rated resort/prime week would get into Westgate at the Canyons if there is availability. Ski school or semi-privates at the Canyons is excellent and the terrain there is expansive and beautiful. Advanced search necessary. The other Marriott (in town) is across the street from the Town lift to PC mountain. Also a tough trade in season but attainable with a strong Marriott.

If you'd consider a nice place within a mile or so of Park City mountain resort, I highly recommend Park Plaza. Gold Crown RCI resort also available through II, SFX and other independents. Not at the mountain, but free on-demand shuttle to/from Park City mountain and Deer Valley, as well as to main street, grocery store, etc. One bedroom sleep 5 comfortably - they have 2 baths and spacious living/dining area with two sleeper sofas.

If you value location over unit updates and resort glitz, Sweetwater at Park City is a short walk to lifts - it is just behind the Marriott.

I would take a look at the independent exchange companies for this one.

You might consider Steamboat CO if Park City does not work for you. Very family oriented and a number of TS there.

        Cheers

Just returned from Marriott's Mountainside. Great location for skiers IMO.
