  • Glacier Park resort question

Right now we have a week on hold at the Glacier Widerness resort for next August. I know this is a great exchange, but I am worried that it might be too remote for us. We love hiking and nature but, although it is close to the park, we also enjoy some creature comforts and a nice dinner out. How far is it to some good restaurants? Should we hold out for something in Columbia Falls, like Meadow Lake? Or something in White Fish? I am pretty sure we have enough trading power because we got Meadow Lake once before but had to cancel. I appreciate any and all thoughts. Should I confirm or keep looking?

    Hi,
We stayed at Glacier Wilderness last year. The resort is individual cabins, with hot tubs on the deck and they have an indoor pool, but the resort i pretty remote. It is great for visiting Glacier Park. It is only 10 miles from the West entrance (the closest time share). We had a little trouble finding good places to eat on that side of the park and the restaurants closed pretty early in the evening. We would stay in the park until almost dark most nights as we were riding some of the roads where you would see wildlife and twilight was the best time for that, but, when we would leave the park the few restaurants that are round the entrance would usually be closing. The lodges in the park have pretty good restaurants with good food although a little pricy.
I have a review of Glacier Wilderness posted over on TUG and have some pics of the resort at http://community.webshots.com/album/371676699jabpnF.
If you really want more restaurants and stores etc. there would be more in Whitefish or Columbia Falls but you have further to go each day to get to the park entrance. You could also travel to Whitefish once or twice during your stay to get to more restaurants etc.
Hope this helps a little. If you have any specific questions about Glacier Wilderness post them and I will try to answer.

I loved the pics of the cabin. It reminded me of Banff Mtn. Gate. I like the rustic stuff.
