  • Grand Summit Hotel-The Canyons info needed

    I am looking of more information on purchasing and renting a unti at the Grand Summit Hotel-The Canyons. I know that there is a HOA forum here, but it is closed to non-owners like me.

    I have visited the resort and it is incredible, but what are the resale prices, MF, rental rates, etc of a 2 Bedroom ski week (non-Christmas/New Years)?

    I can't answer your Grand Summit questions, but it worth noting that full ownership at the Sundial, two bedroom plus loft, lockout unit, is going for about $800K....

      I am SHOCKED as I stayed at the Sundial 3 years ago and thought it was pretty basic and would only be worth about $250,000 MAX!

      $800,000 for the Sundial.....forgggggggggggeeeeeeeeet about it!

          I will stick with The Westgate Resort Canyons for a 2BDR ski week for under $30k.

            Well I am no fan of WG... but the resort is nice and I'm sure as an owner you'd get a better unit than we had on a preview trip...

            But if it were my money, I'd spend an extra 30% or so to own GS rather than WG..., though I d/n know if that's in the ballpark.

            Otoh, I am thrilled with my clean, comfortable, low key 1 bed/2 bath unit at Park Plaza purchased for under $3K.... heading there for President's week. For the savings, I am happy to drive or shuttle to the mountain

              Do you know if 2 BDR GS is $40k? If so...that is in MY ballpark.

              I believe the GS is only 1/4 ownership and gives 13 weeks of useage per year for about $200k + ??? MF

              I would like ONE week at 2 BRD GS, but I am not sure if they offer that.

              How do you like Park Plaza? How much are the 2BRD there?

                I really have no idea about GS sales, sorry. I was just putting the value into perspective for myself as opposed to owning WG, IF I were going to spend big bucks, which I am NOT.

                We haven't yet stayed at PP, but I did look at it last year and liked it just fine (well enough to buy). All the kitchens have been updated w/granite and new appliances, though the baths are a little dated (no marble/granite/jacuzzi). I'm not sure about cost or availability of 2 bedrooms. I own the large 1 bedroom as well as a studio, though it is not a 'lock-off' setup. I don't see resales very often.

                The place is clean, the units are in great shape. The place is relatively small, nothing like the mega-places at the Canyons. The indoor pool is nice and the front desk is very helpful/friendly. There is a free on-demand private resort shuttle in addition to the public bus system. It is walking distance to the Blind Dog Cafe in Prospector Square, so some of my savings will get spent on a few yummy meals

                Some people insist on, and are willing to pay for, ski-in/ski-out. I understand that, but we really don't need it, especially since I don't ski and am always available to drop off/pick up, etc... I have friends coming in February that could've stayed with us, but prefer to pay $4000 to stay at Mountainside or even rent a gross room at The Lodge if they can't find a MS unit. But they only take two trips a year to my eight weeks or so, so they don't mind overspending.

                  With two kids 8yo and 11yo....I NEED ski in-out!!!

                  I am going to Park City in Feb and will check out Park Plaza when I am there.

                  I like Westgate Canyons, Grand Summitt Canyons, Marriott MS and SW.

                  I ahve also paid big bucks to stay at Stein Erickson (overpriced) and The Lodges at Deer Valley (very nice for the $).

                    Grand Summit-Canyons is a fractional ownership, deeded as 1/4 shares. Whole ownership is possible by purchasing all 4 deeds of the same unit. 1/4 share = 13 weeks (every 4th week). There are several 2 BR listings in MLS, asking $180K and up. Sending you a PM as well.
