  • Park City, UT

How would Park City, UT be at the end of July or first of August? Is there plenty to keep a 6, 11 and 13 year old busy? Which timeshare(s) would be the best to get an exchange for a 2 or 3 bedroom.

I can't help you with which timeshares are best but I can tell you that Park City is fun in the summer. If your kids are into mountain biking they can do that at the resorts. There is also hiking, the alpine slide and of course sightseeing. There is also the Utah Olympic Park that is on the edge of town that they can do practice runs on the bobsled track and on the ski jump.

As my son had a nasty accident on an Alpine Slide this summer, I feel I must warn parents of younger children that accidents are frequent and the roadrash/skinburns not pretty... Fortunately my son's face may not scar, but his leg has permanent scars from the second-degree burns... we are lucky he didn't suffer head trauma, a sometimes occurrence...

That aside, the nicest timeshares around are Marriott Mountainside (or Marriott Summit Watch if you prefer to be in town), the Westgate (avoid the first floor units), Miners Club at the Canyons, or Grand Summit. There may be others...

Is there a good day trip to see and do things on and in the Great Salt Lake?

            Not really

The Great Salt Lake is a great big yawn.

They promote Antelope Island as a way to see bison and other big animals run free, but when I was there I hardly saw anything. Not worth the time and travel.

I would go to the Copper Mine, though. It's reputed to be the largest man made creation you can see from space.

Go to the Aerospace museum at Hill Air Force Base. Everyone will like it,especially to see the stealth bomber, uniformed manequins.....see how big military transport planes really are.

Other must dos are everything at the Utah Olympic Park. Try to time it right though......you don't want to be there when a tour bus( or 6) drops off.
It's actually more fun to watch practice than to be there for the "presentation".

We found the Mormon Tabernacle compound fascinating, were sorry we didn't have more time to explore it. We are not Mormons, it's just a cool place.

Westgate Park City does have 3 and even 4 bedroom units. I haven't seen them up for trade often, but they are there...

I'd definitely go to the Copper mine again, and I agree that exploring Temple Square is fun. We went to the Sunday morning rehursal of the choir for their 30 min. radio show and stayed for the actual recording; we drove down to Sundance; there's the Olympic facility; we went to Promintory--where the rail lines met in crossing the U.S. (that was really interesting). It was easy to find things to do, and the town is cute. We liked Summit Watch better than the other Marriott just because it's easier to be in town.

                    Olympic Biathlon Range

In Soldier Hollow you can practice shooting on the Olympic Biathlon range. Standing and prone..........real targets................Olympic distance from target.

They have also converted a large section of the cross country track for roller blading.

We have found PC to be wonderful in the summer with tons of activities especially if you are willing to travel an hour or so in different directions. It can be relaxing and fun, although not "theme park" fun.

                            Summers in Park City

Check the local papers when you get into town. There are often local rodeos and country fairs on the holiday weeks.

Every Wednesday in summer there is a farmer's market in the Canyons parking lot down by highway 224. Ready to eat things also.

Both Deer Valley and Canyons have live performances at night. Park City municipal sponsors outdoor movies as well.

Downtown has a skate board park with half- pipes, etc.
