Park City Mountain Resort Unveils Unique Family Programs to Improve the Guest Experience
Thursday November 16, 12:43 pm ET
Small Class Sizes for Kids' Ski and Snowboard School and Teen Host Initiative

PARK CITY, Utah, Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Park City Mountain Resort announces its exclusive Kids Signature 5 Program that guarantees five children or less in each ski and snowboard lesson for those ages 6-14, even during the Resort's busiest times. Park City Mountain Resort's Kids Signature 5 Program will offer unparalleled personal attention, a choice of lunches in one of the on-mountain restaurants and increased self-confidence on the slopes.

"We have listened to what our guests want, and are reinventing the way children's ski and snowboard schools are structured," said Peter Curtis, president and general manager of Park City Mountain Resort. "Most resorts limit the number of children per class for ages 3-6, however, to our knowledge we are the only ones to guarantee five children or less per instructor for kids ages 6-14."

Last year, Park City Mountain Resort executives envisioned a children's ski and snowboard program with a maximum of five children per class. This idea was tested last March, the busiest month for class instruction. The Resort found that not only were the parents happier but the instructors were as well. They could teach the students more effectively in a constructive learning environment.

"We did our homework and know this is a big commitment on our part because of the number of instructors it takes to make this program successful. This further strengthens our dedication to our guests in order to make their downhill experience more positive," said Curtis.

The Kid's Signature 5 Program is being offered all winter season long including the busiest Resort times, which take place during the winter holidays as well as President's Day weekend and the month of March for spring break. The program is for children between the ages of six and 14 and they will be grouped together with those of similar age and ability level. Advanced reservations are required and can be made by calling 800-227-2754.

As part of the Resort's ongoing initiatives to enhance visiting families' vacation experiences, Park City Mountain Resort is launching a teen host program called the Ride Guides. The Guides will provide ski and snowboard tours of the mountain for free to teen guests on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The Ride Guides will begin in December. Currently, Park City Mountain Resort is the only mountain offering this type of program.

Park City Mountain Resort encompasses 3,300 acres, 3,100 vertical feet, nine bowls and eight peaks offering Signature groomed runs, bumps, powder, trees, terrain parks and the Eagle Superpipe, one of North America's largest superpipes. The Resort has received numerous accolades, most recently being named a top-five ski Resort by the readers of SKI magazine for the second year and "Terrain Park of the Year" for the third year in a row by the readers of Transworld Snowboarding magazine. The Resort is conveniently located 36 miles from the Salt Lake International Airport, offering more than 800 in-bound flights daily. I guess the Canyons is giving them a run for their money. So far, the Canyones will not give a limit on group sizes, so last year we booked a private group for 5 kids. We will definitely take advantage of this new policy in February for at least a few days.

      PCMR Ski College

One of the best ski instruction programs around is offered at Park City Mountain Resort in early Dec. It is called Ski College. The package is about $500 and includes lift ticket and lessons for one week. Many people return year after year. The class sizes are about 8 and at the end of the week everyone has become better skiers and very friendly.

This ia a great opportunity for timeshare folks because the lessons meet right outside Marriott Mountainside. I have stayed at MOU twice during Dec. and skied right to ski school. It is awesome. The best time to book is the 2nd week of Dec. and there usually are weeks available at that time, with II, even with non Marriott trades. You just have to keep trying. (I believe Marriott bulk banks these weeks) The 2nd week is the last week they offer the ski school deal because the following week is butting up to the holiday season. The last week of Nov and the first week of Dec. are chancy due to the snow conditions, although they do offer the ski college then as well.

Hope to see some of you at the slopes. It's a wonderful vacation, even for singles because the MOU studios are cute and attractive.
