  • Sandstone Creek Club, Vail

On hold for a holiday ski week. Should I hold out for something better? How long a drive to Vail for skiing? How are the hot tubs/common areas for teens?
Which, in your opinion, are the best resorts in Vail (no Marriotts)?

What about Hyatt, & Sheraton? why no Marriott?

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I am trying not to buy another Marriott. I forgot about the Sheraton, though... but it's President's week, 2009... I doubt I could do that without a Sheraton, either, and they are almost always deposited as 1 beds/lockoffs...
        Hyatt would be lovely.

Last year, there were a number of 2 bdrm Sheraton ski weeks, that showed up. I know that someone here grabbed one, but I can't remember who. Since Sheraton tends to bulk bank, there's a chance of grabbing one, if you're keeping a look-out.

I can't remember if any holiday weeks showed up, tho. Are you thinking of President's Week?

I remember, he had a 1 bedroom, then upgraded last minute. Not President's week, though, which is what I would need. And I don't think I have anything in II strong enough to pull a 2 bedroom on an ongoing search, either... at least not yet...

Yeah, him too. I was thinking of someone who got a 2 bdrm, when they were first banked. He was going to take his young children on a ski week.

We should keep a look out, just in case. You never know. Can't hurt!

YOU are a very bad influence.
This is how I end up with so many freakin' 'backups.'
The place is Gold Crown, and 5*. 2 bedroom. If anyone wants it in case I let it go, get your request in.

Anyone else? Would I be foolish to let it go? I found some good reviews, sounds small, not top shelf, but nice enough. I know, I will call and find out if there is high speed internet; that would be a dealbreaker for me...

                  I'm sorry!!

You're right, it's a 2 bdrm in a Gold Crown, 5* and I'm sure that's it's a beautiful place. Plus, you would be all set for President's Week. You probably shouldn't let it go. What if nothing better shows up.

I am going to use some self-control, and let this go. Especially after I told DS15 and he said he'd rather stay at Beaver Creek. It's almost 2 years out, and I'm not jumping up and down... So for once, RCI won't get to keep my $ on the cancellation and insurance...

Let's see how long I can keep this up

Two years out....You would have changed your mind, 5 times by then!

You're right. And at almost $200 a pop, it gives me pause. Especially after reading someone's accounting of her cancellation fees paid to RCI last year. That could easily be me... I've got to get a grip.

I do the same thing, too..... I either change my mind, or something happens where our plans change, more than I'd like to admit.

Better that you let it go. Your DS prefers Beaver Creek, and you still have time.

                            We own at Sandstone

A Sandstone ski week is a good exchange. Vail is rather difficult to exchange to during ski season. The Sandstone is a family friendly timeshare that was built about 20 years ago and was recently refurbished. It has a nice location. They offer shuttle busses to the slopes. The units are large. They offer free movies and have a great collection. We recommend people buy the summer one bedrooms at Sandstone. (not the ones with lofts) We always get an AC from II when we deposit. The two beds have MF's that are too high, but not the one beds.

The Sheraton is not in Vail, but over in Avon. It is nice but the rooms are small. Avon is closer to Beaver Creek. Another very nice timeshare next to the Sheraton is Lakeside Terrace. It offers spacious 2 bedroom units.

The Marriott in Vail is a disappointment. It is not like the ones in Tahoe or Park City. It is on a par with Sandstone. One day Marriott will tear down and re-build.

There are some nice timeshares in Breckenridge, but the elevation is higher. There is a Hyatt there that has a great location and is newer and very well appointed.
