Great pictures!! We will be staying for 1 night in Gardiner, I think on a Tuesday. I figured we could drive to the north of YNP, stay a night and then drive back to Jackson by way of the western section of the park back down to Jackson.

I guess a lot is going to depend on how much time I have to play around with in August. I'm leaning towards taking a week all by itself to do that area and not rush through it

and Robert goes posting more about Glacier National Park as if Boca's trip reports from last summer weren't enough to make us all half crazy to visit there.

      SIGH

      No rest for the weary.

PS: I do hope you all know I'm kidding with you.
      What size and which dates?????

I know you are weary and abused. Poor thing!
Someday it will happen for you. You need to really wish for it and continue to help others all you can.
And then maybe.... just maybe... you will get to see this for yourself.

This is not from an airplane, but from Going to the Sun Highway.

        Gnp

It is unreal. There are many pullouts.

Oh yes, there is a pass over those mountains ahead.[/QUOTE]

One of the pics shows the road with a mountain on one side and a drop off on the other. Doing "Going to the Sun" from west to east puts you on the drop off side while the other way puts you on the mountain side. That is much to be preferred on a bike at any rate.

All I can say John, drivers should be in no hurry and pay attention to the road. I know ya wanta look, but that's what pullouts are for.

We went over, west to east, then turned around and drove it again, east to west. Probably lit better the other way around, but can't complain.

We could have went up to Saint Mary and driven both directions, but that would have put us on the east side of the park. Our plan was to continue westward into Columbia Gorge by way of northern Idaho.
