  • Island Park Village MF increase for off season week

I wanted to check in with other IPV owners. I just got the M/F notice for 2010 and now all weeks (red, white, blue) have the same M/F at $488 for 1bdrm and and $527 for 2bdrm.

This means that 1bdrm Red week with early pay $20 off for cash/cheque will be $468 which is less than the $472 for M/F in 2008 and 2bdrm red week with $22 off for cash/cheque payment will also be less than $518 of 2008. Whereas Blue week 1bdrm went from $334 to $411 to the current $488 (or $468 with discount) for a 46% increase over 2 years.

What are other owners thoughts on this?

I bought a low season blue week to trade in II for Hyatts and have gotten it twice but have since bought Hyatt directly for the flexibility. As a mediocre trader, going from $305 to the current $488 in about 4 years is a big jump. I know Hyatts in CO have mud season for a fraction of the points value of peak winter or summer weeks and it more accurately reflect supply and demand.

How does one go about giving a week away for free and the other party pay for the transfer costs? The only advantage I can see a blue week is for someone localish that want to take advantage of the discounted owner golf fees.

Mary, you could post your week for free here and on TUG with buyer paying the transfer fee - u r right in that someone who is local would appreciate the usage so also look at Craig's list for that general area to list it there might be a good idea.

ttt - Alan from TUG does closings for under $100 - with buyer paying the deed recording and buyer paying the transfer fee if applicable- this does not include escrow but that will not be necessary in your case.

Years ago, I had a white week that I bought and then sold for under $800 - the guy that bought it wanted to go snow mobiling there and the white season included those winter weeks.

    I pre-paid my 2010 fee - I will request a credit to my account.

I am very annoyed by the increase. If you look at the bylaws the off season weeks own only 1.2 % where as High season weeks own 2.7%. I understand the motivation for doing it but it makes the low season much less useful. I am going to see about deeding it back. I don't know how far I will get with it but we'll see.

This sort of promted me to make a call and I spoke to the resort manager and he said this was a decision by the board and will be finalized AFTER the meeting in Sept when the membership votes.

The bad news is that even if all timeshare members voted against it the lot owners get 49 votes each and they want the change. I asked about deed back and they are going to send me information to do so. They will do so for hardship cases. If you own multiple weeks and want to give back just the low season, they may turn down the request.

DH is there now and said it looks like the resort needs some repairs. The resort manager said the swing set collapsed this week - fortunately no one was hurt.

If anyone wants the deed back info send me a pm & I will forward it when I receive it.

Pat - do you know how IPV is still trading in RCI? Do the trade power take a hit with the revamp? I am afraid to give them next years week.

I got the deedback document from Randy and they apparently do it for hardship cases. Anyone interested in that and some of the background information, send me a PM. I have been trying to suggest that with the changes in the assessments, they should give blue owners an opportunity to upgrade / trade in their unit.

They have some points for their argument for even assessment but they did an extremely poor job of communicating it. Red week M/F actually went down whereas Blue weeks went up by almost 50%.

I have an blue IPV week in II (week 13) and it is not great trader so I think Blue weeks have gone down in value. I saw Hyatt Beach House 75 days out last year and used to see a lot of Hyatts in low season but I don't see any at all now.

Does anyone know anything about the directors up for election or the existing ones? For Timbers (TS) they are Mark Barnard, Douglas Button, Earl Cluff I prefer Phyllis Carpenter from the Candidate statement versus the incumbent Joyce Foster but don't know anything about either of them.

There are 169 lots and 3234 TS weeks and with lot owners having 49 votes each and being local, they often outweight the TS owners.

Have anyone noticed that lots fees went from $532.00 in 2008 to $434.00 in 2009 to the proposed $346 or $333 with early pay. In comparison the lot M/F was actually $555 in 1989 so what happened to inflation???

I think it is a good suggestion to ask to 'trade up' your week for an additinal fee - you have nothing to lose.
Chelle would know what the largest city would be to IPV where people would be interested in purchasing for day use.

chelle - IPV seems to be holding its' own in RCI - only a slight decrease with the adjustment - still over 150K - not seeing the very TOP resort but u don't want to go there anyway

eastern Idaho would be better than twin falls for craigs list.

I have been exchanging e-mails with several people at IPV on 2 issues:

                    1) Q: Lot fees went from $532.00 in 2008 to $434.00 in 2009 to the proposed $346 or $333 with early pay for FY 2010. In comparison, the 2008 annual meeting stated that the lot fee was actually $555 in 1989. They are the only group whose fees have gone down and inflation does not seem to come into the equation at all. Also from the annual meeting, it seems that 169 lot owners each have 49 votes vs 1 vote per timeshare interval and since they live at IPV year round, they tend to be able to attend the meetings more easily. I just find this fact a little surprising when fees for both TS and WCO went up.

The reply was the board tried to make the lot owners pay more 2 years ago and the lot owners with their large number of votes (49 votes each) voted the budget down. The started keeping better track of expenses by the different groups. Before that there are no records to account for the monies and/or they don’t balance. Also, mgmt often put expenses where ever the budget had money. Added to that many lot owners believe they have been overcharged for years.

                    2) I have requested ability to trade in the blue week and buy say a white week for a fee. Apparently it had been brought up before to certain people but not sure if it had been voted on before or not. I have the promise of the TPI Director of resort operations, Nicole Campbell, that this is now being added to the agenda of the AGM. IPV have typically limited to turnback to severe illness, death, etc. But HOA owned weeks and deliquencies are on the rise which indicates potential problems in the future.

Any IPV owners planning to go to the general meeting?
