If you have a car, most of the folks who live around the fairgrounds let you park on their lawns for prices between $15 and $25 a day. Hotel de L'Eau Vive offers free parking for owners at the resort, so in that instance, a car makes sense, since the rental price plus parking is usually less than the cost of the bus for 4 people for 3 days.

It never occurred to me to rent a car in NOLA. Probably because we'd have trouble finding a designated driver

And there are no sour grapes at Jazzfest, you'll have a great time!! Besides, I think you may be right about the crowds.

That second week looks great as well, wish I could stay for both. I just excited to finally get there.

I always have a great time in NOLA. Of course, I usually go for Jazzfest, Mardi Gras or New Year.

If any of you first weekenders want to go halfsies on a Brass Pass, I'd be up for it. You take it the first week, I'll take it the second (Fri, Sat, Sun only). $200 each, and that includes not only admission to the fest (for one person only), but in and out privileges and it also includes admission for you and one guest to the WWOZ hospitality tent with unlimited fruit, water, chips, and iced coffee. Plus internet access. It's last minute notice, since the price of tickets is going up as of Friday, but if we can get an agreement quickly, it might make sense.

If you don't need the added features of in/out and hospitality tent, you can get three days for the price of two through today - total comes to $120 pp instead of $180...

Actually, about $165, after the Ticketmaster fees, and additional "service" fees. Ticketmaster adds a $8.15 fee per ticket, then on top of that charges extra per order for ticket "service" and "delivery." Unless you live in NOLA, there's no way to avoid those fees. No additional fees for the Brass Pass, however, and no additional fees if you buy it at the gate. So, you're only saving about $15 for three days if you buy in advance via Ticketmaster.

Good point - ticketmaster fees bite! We usually buy at the gate, but this year decided to do advance ticketing since we're afraid S&G will be a major draw and cause longer lines.

Yeah, that's why I thought of the Brass Pass. About $35 extra, for which you get admission for one for all three days, unlimited water, iced coffee, snacks, internet/email access at the Fest, in and out privileges, a clean bathroom and the misted/cooled hospitality tent. Sounds like a decent deal if I can get someone to split the cost with me.
