  • Pretty Well Prepared For Jazz Fest

Yes, I'm off to NYC for early April, and Spain for July. But my Jazz Fest trip has been occupying most of my attention lately. United ran a special where they made extra tickets available via mileage, so I snagged two of those for my flight to Jazz Fest. Got a car rental for the week (Hotel de L'Eau Vive has free parking for owners) and a Priceline room at the Marriott for $80 to cover Thursday night. Found someone who is going the first weekend with whom to split a Brass Pass, and bought 3 single tickets before the price went up to cover my SO. Got two restaurant.com certs for $3 each. One for Willie Mae's Scotch House (fried chicken), one for Liuzza's By The Track (roast beef po'boys).

So, it looks like the cost is as follows for the two of us:

    Airfare: $10 taxes
Room: $540 for timeshare + $100 for Priceline room, including taxes
    Car: $260
    1/2 of Brass Pass: $200
    3 entrance tickets: $165
Parking on someone's lawn during the fest will probably cost about $70
Total cost: $1,345+cost of food (which will be almost the same as if we'd stayed home).

Pretty decent price for a week's worth of decadence.

She does. Today, she was reading a travel mag and lamenting that we weren't going to Rome any time in the near future. Then she said, "I'm spoiled." I told her that I was sorry that, in the next year, we were only going to New York, Jazz fest in NOLA, Madrid, Malaga, Sevilla, Granada, Ronda, Marrakesch, London, Honolulu and Mardi Gras in NOLA, and that I would try to work Rome into the equation sometime in 2011.

HOC - I'm glad you found someone to split the Brass Pass with. You are all set! We had to pay $ for air, but booked it far out enough to pay $227 pp so I can live with that. Still working out some Thursday night deets, but have the Marriott using points for the time being until we move to t/s on Friday.

Now it's time to start looking to see who's playing around town in the evenings...

Do you know about Jazzfest Grids | The Nearly-World-Famous Jazzfest Grids? They give you that information.

Thanks! I will keep an eye on it. I imagine that will fill up closer to the Fest? We usually hit Rock N Bowl one night, it's such a great venue.
