Looking for New Orleans La Pension owners. Do you know anything about the renovation and La Pension closing for a year?

I see you have posted this question or variation of it several times. Have you called BG yet?

      La Pension Closing

Yes, I spoke with them and they said that they have a team working on what they are going to do. They said that someone will be calling the La Pension members within the next couple of weeks.

Club La Pension 2011 Special assessment

I would like to speak with other Club la pension owners about their thoughts on this special assessment being levied by Bluegreen resorts.
If each unit had all weeks sold Bluegreen would be receiving over $80,000
per unit to do repairs on the resort. They could tear it down and rebuild it for that. These cost seem excessive to me, what do you think ? email me back at ajcringle@sbcglobal.net

          La Pension Assessment

I too think the assessment is excessive but there isn't much that we can do. The thing that I dislike the most is that they are going to be closed for a year and in addition to the mainteance fee we have the $1,500 assessment. I have only owned there for a little over a year and don't really understand all the ins and out but I'm already sorry that I got involved. I love New Orleans but I think I would have been better off to just stay at a hotel when I went down. Since I bought this unit it has been nothing but a hassle - I was told it was a fixed week - turns out it was a floating week - didn't know there were weeks blocked that I couldn't use - no one mentioned that. Was told to count on 4 months for paperwork to be completed, got plane tickets and had to pay a change fee because it took 6 months for paperwork to be completed. Now I have a $1,500 assessment on top of yearly maintenance and am not able to use the unit. The timeshare is nice, the location is nice, the people are nice but what good does it do if you can't go when you'd like to go and can't use it at all for at least a year (have you ever know a construction project to finish on time.

            Questions about Club La Pension

I have been reading with interest this thread and as much other stuff as I could find about the closure and special assessment at La Club Pension. it seems to me that with all the unhappy owners here, there might be an opportunity for me. ie a completely restored, historic property in the French Quarter for not much money. and with not much chance of a special assessment in the near future, But I really want to do my homework first

Two questions that I couldnt get an answer to:

            1) I see floating weeks for sale in various places; the ads say they float all 52 weeks. Does anyone know whether thats true, or is it more likely that there are black out weeks at Mardi Gras and the Jazz fest

            2) At what point can a weeks owner make a reservation, (15 months out, 12 months)? And who gets Mardi Gras (assuming Im right about black out weeks)

            3) I assume a blue green points owner can make a reservation here. Do weeks owners have priority?

Thanks for your help. I know that this thread deals with the assessment and closure, but I dont know where else to go for answers

              Ron,

You would, in the future, be better off posting as a new topic.

Most boards try to keep some flow on same topics so that others looking for the same answers can search on message topics and possibly find an answer.

Appending to an existing general topic doesn't help those who follow.

I do commend you on your research though, seem to be running across you on a number of topics.
              Mark B.

                It's been interesting

When we bought we were told that we were purchasing fixed week 10. After we paid and everything was signed we were told that we had a floating week and not a fixed week. We also do not have points - we just have a floating week. We were never told that we were not able to book during Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest and a couple of other weeks. We were very disappointed but liked LaPension so much we didn't cause a lot of waves. We are new member so have only been able to use the timeshare one week so far, now we have an assessment and the place is closed for the next year. We are terribly disappointed and confused. Think long and hard before you decide to buy into this.
