My new photoshow Bonaparte's Quarters New Oleans 2006 is online. It has a lot of recent photos of New Orleans and of the timeshare where we stayed, Leisure Club International at New Orleans (Bonaparte's Quarters) If you'd like to see the French Quarter 10 months after Katrina, or the timeshare, I invite you to take a look.

We were in the Central Business district for the "Wednesday at the Square" concert/food & drink fest.
We took the Canal Street Streetcar to St. Charles Street and from there the bus to the Garden District. (The St. Charles Street Streetcar is not operating).
We also took the Magazine Street bus to the Audubon Zoo. The zoo is mostly open and in very good shape.
There was a lot of construction going on in the Garden District, but other than that, it looked good.
Except for Lafayette Square, we found the Central Business District to be unpleasant, but didn't see a lot that was obviously Hurricane Damage. We didn't see much obvious hurricane damage along the bus and streetcar routes either. There were hardly any other tourists evident once we got out of the French Quarter, except at the zoo. But the locals seemed to be going about their business as usual.
Flying into the airport, we could see a lot of blue roofs. It looked like Orlando after Charley.
We didn't go to the lower 9th ward.See my timeshare photoshows

timetraveler, nice presentation! I thought the master bedroom was pretty small until the next picture showed a bed!
frank, good to see you are making a triumphant return to NOLA! Is this your first trip there since you had to cancel in Sep 2005?
We'll be there Oct 13-20 also. We exchanged into Maison Pierre Lafitte in Aug 05. May 06 RCI called and said we were being moved to the QH instead.
Just pray for no hurricanes in Oct!
I am amazed by peoples' reactions when I tell 'em we're going to NOLA. 99% wonder why. (I wonder about them.) I'd rather see and experience things in person than see the world from my couch via the tube.

Frank, I am still buzzing with the chance to have dinner with you at K-Paul's. When I told my wife of all the possibilities you offered she reminded that we are staying in Tahoe the week before NOLA and SF the week after. NO WAY! Wow, did I set this up wrong! A drawback of booking way in advance. Sadly I must decline your super generous offer. I will solace myself by looking for more trades. There will be a trip again where we can meet up again and meet up for food again! Thanks again for the offer.
