  • Wyndham Nashville September 2012 Review

Location, Location, Location. Drive just over a half mile past the Gaylord and there sits Wyndham. A very LARGE Wyndham. Twenty 4 story buildings. 5 units to a floor. 400 units give or take. Numerous pools, etc. Why was I surprised it was so big?

We arrived a couple of hours early, registration is swift and unit is ready. Skipped the parking pass tango as we knew we would be off-site all day of the four we were there. Top floor, corner unit, two bedroom that sleeps six.

Unit is typical of the new/remodeled Wyndhams. Furnishings are in very good condition. Master is large with en-suite 2 person jacuzzi and bathroom. Large deck off living area. Large second bedroom with two fullsize beds and flat screen TV. I liked the second bath layout. There was a door directly from the second bedroom into the bath. If you closed the access door off the kitchen it was private and ensuite. Nice feature. Very open floor plan for kitchen, dining, living area.

Typical upscale kitchen with granite, Cuisanart, dark wood cabinets, stacked washer/dryer in a closet. This one had a little island where they stored the cookware because there is a lack of cabinets. I am not a short person and literally had to climb onto the counter the last day to reach remaining coffee mugs.

As with my recent stay at Sea Garden, we had to hunt down the trash can. It's in the broom closet as you enter the unit. I know this is not the most attractive item in a kitchen but why hide them?

Wi-fi is complimentary and worked well in our unit. There is also a small business area with 3 computers and two printers up at check-in. Good for printing boarding passes.

There is no restaurant or convenience store on-site and a car is a necessity to enjoy the area. Stores consist of a couple of convenience places at two separate gas stations. I was told the nearest "real" stores were 5 miles away, including CVS.

Late check-out was all of 30 minutes after posted time of 10AM and they mean it.

Wyndham is the only game in town when it comes to Nashville and it was hopping even in mid-September. A nice choice with the bells and whistles one expects with this timeshare brand.

I saw the Wyndham before it was flooded. Yes I agree it has a great location.
We were staying at Gaylord but if you stay at Wyndham you can visit Gaylord without paying the Gaylord prices.

And I had the same issue with the coffee cups in Sedona. They put all the china so high we had to get a chair to get it down.
We stored it in the dishwasher after that cause we weren't going to be going up and down on the chair.
I don't get it. Are they looking for a lawsuit when someone slips and falls?

when we stayed in door county, the dishes were all stored in the little cabinet above the refrigerator. we had to leave them on dr table all week. my sister is not even 5 feet tall, I'm much taller.

Well we missed the grand Olde Opry tour because the group did that Saturday morning.

This is a working trip and they pretty much have us going 8A to 8P each day.

We did do a bus tour which was very informative. If I ever go back I'd do a trolley tour to get off and see what was being pointed out. The bus dropped us at the Wildhorse Saloon http://wildhorsesaloon.com/ for buffet dinner with live music and line dancing lessons. Kind of tourist trappy if you ask me but fun.

Tuesday night another gal and I wanted to see Loretta Lynn at the Opry but the tickets were sold out. Stubhub had them for $250pp My understanding of the format is each artist does ~ 3 songs. No way could I justify $80/tune even for Loretta. I ended up strolling around the Gaylord hotel and shopping area.

Wednesday was my free day and I went to the Country Music Museum which had a great exhibit on Patsy Cline and the Bakersfield influence. After that I walked around downtown Nashville until it was time to head to the airport.

It really is a pretty city with a lot going for it. Pity it gets cold there.

Nashville was never on my destination list but I can see it being a very popular place for many.

You have to do the Redneck Bus it is fantastic. We did it about two years ago and it was a blast.

When I was just a kid, Loretta Lynn did an appearance at the K-Mart in Knoxville.

I also saw George Jones at a Walmart appearance once and my son got him to sign a guitar.

Pushing 60 and still haven't made it to the Opry. I will probably be in Nashville sometime this year on business. I hope they have someone I like at the Opry while I'm there so I can justify the expense.

This is another one we used to get even up, a two bedroom 8/6, every year. The first year of faux points they tried to rent it to us for $1200, then $1000, then $800 instead.

Just another place they decided we really did not want to go to.

Like the good china, and cups, I guess it's best to keep it above the reach of the riff-raff.
