I plan to call the resort - however - I was wondering if anyone
has stayed here recently and what is your opinion of the resort

How was the overall conidition - interior of the units
Does the Master Bedroom have a jacuzzi/whirlpool tub
Do the units have ceiling fans and a washer and dryer
Does the Resort offer free phone calls and wireless internet
How close is the resort to Asheville NC & Dollywood Theme Park

How many points for a 2 Bedroom 8/6 for a week in the Summer?

You didn't say what time of year you plan to go, though you do mention summer. Be aware that the traffic is beyond awful in this area in the peak season, or any time there is a special event bringing lots of folks to town. I've waited through multiple lights just to get in or out of the road where the resort is.

I've never been to the resort, just some of the stores and restaurants in front of it.

With no traffic, it's probably a ten minute drive to or from Dollywood. With traffic, I've given up after making no progress for 45 minutes or more.

It's quite a distance to the National Park.

Asheville would be a fairly easy day trip.

If you're going in the off- or mid-season, this would probably be a great choice. August would probably be pretty good there, since most southern schools go back the first week of August. It would be hot in August, though.

At peak times, I wouldn't touch the resort because of the location. JMHO.

Stay there in 2003 2BR delux. The unit is kept O.K. Everything looks good. I do notice under the bed there are some finger food. So the cleaning team does not move the furniture. But they do constant get FF internal award.

No ceiling fan. Do have jacuzzi/whirlpool tub

The activity center do have wireless connection. Saw a few people work their laptop there. The local phone was free at that time. But they arrange local show there once for breakfest and Bingo there. So you should expect the possibility of get interrupt.

They were still building on that area.

2BR lockoff 189k, 2BR delux 166k.

There is a traffic light exit from resort to the main street. A outlet mall just located there.

Dollywood Theme Park is very close.

Smoky Mountain Park is relatively close but about less than 1 hr.

Knoville is about 1 hr highway.

Asheville is about 2 hr.

Monday - Called the resort


Fairfield Resort Info

The resort is 6 years old and has about 20 buildings and 500 units
The two bedroom sleep 8/6 units have 1,175 square feet of space
The buildings are 4 stories tall and have elevators - No Pets Allowed

Free Local Phone Calls for the surrounding areas including Knoxville
Dial Up Internet Access in the units - Free Wi-Fi in the Club House

New Activies Center Opening in the Spring 2007
The sales staff at the resort are still selling units

Forgot to ask if they preassign units or
if you get unit assignment at check-in.

The lady who answered the phone was very nice and extemely helpful.

Any Updates on this Story re: Disney buying land near Fairfield Smokey Mt

Word on The Street says that Disney has bought property in Pigeon Forge, TN
adjoining the Fairfield Smokey Mountain property.
And, of course, in Branson as well.
Wonder what they'll do with that land, assuming it's true...

Greetings from the brand new Elkmont Activity Center
here at The Wyndham Smoky Mountains in Tennessee.

The Elkmont Activity Center has been open now about
seven (7) weeks and is beautiful. Indoor & Outdoor Pool
Workout room - library - computer area - meeting room.

If anyone is in the area and would like to meet up

Kitchen
amenities include a GE electric stove, a GE Spacemaker
microwave (Oct 2002), a full size refrigerator with auto
ice maker, and a full size dishwasher.
Brand new Proctor Silex beige color coffee maker.

Dining Room
area has a nice size wood table with 6 rustic chairs plus a
breakfast bar & 2 bar stools for that quick snack or special family dinner.

Dishes, glassware & cooking utensils are included.
Double stainless steel sink & garbage disposal too.

Living Room
Sleep Sofa and Chair - Coffee Table - Lamps
Ceiling Fan - TV, DVD, VCR, and Stero System

Large deck/patio with 4 hunter green chairs & two small snack tables.
It would be much nicer if each unit had a regular size round patio table.

Our building is located across from the check-in building
and our deck/patio faces the newer section of Collier Road.

There is a heavy volume of traffic that uses Collier Road
since the opening of the new Veterans Highway.
Veterans Highway is a really nice road with 3 lanes each way!

Master Bedroom:
King size bed with a new mattress & boxspring
Double windows that open, one side window,
ceiling fan, clock, phone and Philips television.

Private Master Bath with a garden style corner Jacuzzi whirlpool tub
Separate bath with standup glass enclosed tub, toilet and vanity.

There is a small stackable washer & dryer
located in the master bathroom area.

Guest Bedroom
offers two full size beds, ceiling fan, clock, phone and TV
Shared full size bathroom coming off the guest bedroom & hallway.

Interior Color Scheme
Neutral colors primarily consisting of a selection of
beige, brown, tan, cream, taupe with green carpet.

Exterior
The exterior of the buildings have tan color sliding with brown trim and
hunter green roofs. The buildings are 4 stories tall and have elevators.
They have luggage carts to use and a trash room located on each floor.

Free Parking for two vehicles is located directly in front of each building.
Most of the buildings sit on the side of a hill and have an average view.

Timeshare is located off Route 441 Sevierville (Sevier County) Tennessee.

Veterans Highway is a really nice road with 3 lanes each way!

And ridiculously low speed limits unless they've FINALLY changed them to something reasonable.

I saw lots of people pulled over there when we were driving DS to Dollywood for work last Christmas. By the way, keep your fingers crossed. DS auditions Sept 8 for another season there. He had great fun last year.
